PBP is back! AND LIVE!

Yep, due to popular demand (or at least one casual reference in a game thread), I'm going to resume doing play-by-play threads, but thanks to our Grand Poobah, JGar, it's gonna be bigger and better than ever!

Curious? Good!

If you go to the KF home page (www.kingsfans.com), you'll see a new link in the Site Navigation area. It's called "live events" and that's where you'll find tonight's PBP. It will be going live at 6:30 p.m. Mark your calendars! You don't want to miss the grand opening. ;)

It's a work in progress and this is the first time I've ever done anything like this, so please bear with me. I know I'll make some dumb mistakes and I might miss a few plays, but we're hoping to make this a regular feature if it works out.

Just like the tried-and-true PBP, this isn't really an interactive thread although you will be able to make comments. I'm asking that you refrain from posting during the action part of the game and confine your comments to breaks such as between quarters and half-time.

Is this the kind of feature you like? Then help us ensure we're able to keep bringing you things like this. Consider becoming a contributing member and keep Kingsfans.com around as the #1 Sacramento Kings Internet Community!

Thanks for your support and let's get ready for some Kings basketball!!!

I know the casual reference you're reffering to, and I have to say, I'm equally glad this is back. It's the one thing I've really missed since the Kings have gotten uncompetitive. It really helps the fans who can't watch all the time to get a feel for how things are going. Thanks! :)

I think you both must have been there during the brief period of time JGar was away from his computer. Reader comments are subject to review before they show up on the blog.

Other than that, what do you think? I had a lot of fun once I got the hang of it. It's actually easier for me to do the play-by-play as there's no lag time for my posts and I don't have to hit the quick response button after each comment...

I'm not understanding on why reader comments are subject to review since I am a member.

I like the new feature, however, I'm disappointed that none of my comments showed up.

Loved it, JGar! It was nice not having to refresh my page to see if a new set of comments popped up.

The username database for the forums is not tied into the live blogging. It's a separate service. Your comment did eventually show up when I got back to the computer.

It's not really meant to be an interactive forum or chat. It's called "Cover it live" because it's more like live news reporting of an event. We have the game thread still for interactive conversation during the game, and we'll probably get some form of chat up and running before next season. I think Slim runs something now if that's more what you're looking for.
