Paxson wants another big...

Kings113

All-Star
Daily Herald - John Paxson spoke at length about the personnel moves that he has made over the summer with the Daily Herald.

"Obviously, the thing we’re going to keep our eyes and ears open for is the ability to find another big if possible," said Paxson when asked what other moves they might make before the season starts. "Maybe something comes down the pike that we can take a look at."

They still got some of their MLE, I think. They could snatch one of Wright/Cato/Kandi right out from under anyone who wants to get them - including us.

I wish our GM was adament about getting a big.....

Well, Petrie's been tied up with Bonzi until some days ago. Now, as Petrie said can get out and start being aggressive about getting deals done. Petrie/Muss both have said (together and Petrie alone) a few times this summer they want to get bigs, was talked about in the Bee with LLE being used on a big, and Brad lobbying Petrie to get PF/C depth. Hell, Marc Stein even said the Kings want to get a shotblocker. Also, with all the guards/wings now, most of the focus will be on the front-court.

Why? There's still months left.

Wright/Cato/Olowokandi are all still out there, and can be had for the LLE. If Wright is being sought after by Minnesota, then he can be had by us.

Then there are trades, which we have a number of pieces to use in deals to try and get someone solid-decent at least. Possibly someone like Magloire who's a quality bottom-top-ten center.

Along with the things I said that have been said this off-season already.

I still say they try to swap Gordon and/or Deng for Iverson. They get their #1 scorer, and surround Iverson with a perfect supporting cast--no one else needs to dominate the ball to be effective.

Hinrich
Iverson
Nocioni
Thomas/Brown
Wallace

That's deadly. But on the realistic side, I've loved what the Bulls have been doing the past couple years, and like what I'm seeing even more this summer. Fun team.

Good point. Could happen.

Hinrich - Eric Snow (more talented)
Iverson - Iverson
Nocioni or Deng - Lynch
Thomas/Brown - Hill (more Brown than Thomas right now)
Wallace - Ratliff/Deke

Then you got an Aaron McKie-type in Sefolosha off the bench.

"It's possible the Bulls will add another big man. A tough guy like Seattle's Danny Fortson could be released and might be worth a look."

"Perhaps the Bulls could try for a sign-and-trade for one of the available free agents, like Memphis' Lorenzen Wright, using Chris Duhon. The Bulls have told Michael Sweetney—again—to get in better shape."

Fortson on the Bulls would pile on more toughness and rebounding. Unsure if he and Skiles would consistently be good though. What with his constant foul trouble and attitude toward officials, then some other things leading from that over the last 1 or 2 seasons.

Getting Wright would also just add more hustle and interior play. Bring some offense as well.

They used cap space so they obviously renounced their exceptions. And their cap space left really depends on how Ben's deal is structured. If it's equal salary every year which every source claimed. They have no space to sign anyone, even for minimum contracts and would even have to pay their rookies as minimum as possible (down to 80% of rookie scale) and it may be the reason they are not signed yet.

I don't know why they would go after Fortson. Their bigs are all 6'9" and under.

PJ's 6'10"/6'11".

But yes, in Chandler they traded their only 7'0"+ player and a true center would seem to fit. Not sure how big a problem it will be for them though because the guys they do have all play so big for their size. When they say they are looking for another big, I am thinking maybe another Wilcoxlike athlete to try to go with the Detroit forntcourt approach -- lots of tough PFs.

Okay. I wasn't really sure on the situation.

Bulls signed Thomas and Sefolosha 1 or 2 days ago.
