Sounds like the Rockets are Shopping Beverly in order to get cap space. If we can't get additional picks for space this is exactly the type of vet I would love to pick up for space. Solid shooter, great defense, good team player. Would love to have him on board to mentor a young point guard if we draft one.

(if we draft Fox, there's already some level of respect there, Fox mentioned Beverly might not let Lonzo cross mid court next season in one of his interviews.)

If they are trading him, they probably want to dump his salary to go after some free agents.

I'd take him and his salary for cap space is all I'm saying. It sounds like that's all they're looking for. I don't see him as a major piece long term, but I do like him as a short term steady vet to mentor the rookie PG I'm assuming we draft

We need a stopgap veteran PG even if we draft a PG at 5 or 10 so we won't feel compelled to throw the rookie to the wolves whether the production is there or not. Patrick Beverly would make a nice role model for a younger player I think, especially if that guy is De'Aaron Fox. Don't know what it would take but if they're looking to dump salary we can certainly accommodate that.

i would give up a future 2nd rounder OR I would swap the 34th pick for their 43rd pick. I think Patrick's leadership, defensive and shooting capabilities, he would be a very good pick up. He plays at a position of need, he plays defense, he knocks down open shots and it seems like Houston may accept pennies on a dollar for him. I don't see how this guy's name not picking up more buzz with Sacramento. This is the type of player and deal that they should pursue.

My only concern is that duo starting long term. Coach has been known to bring along the young guys slowly and play the vets. There's a difference between them and temple and Tolliver in that it'll be harder for buddy/fox(fingers crossed) to get the minutes they need to grow.

More than likely, they'll offer Beverly as incentive for taking Anderson's contract off their hands. Philly would be a good destination for those 2. 2 quality vets surrounding Embiid/Simmons/Fultz/Saric.

I don't think he is incentive enough to take Ryno's contract.

Beverly is only making 5.5 million this season, non guarantee for $5,027,027 next year.

It really is a fantastic contract, can just let him go if he got injured or caused problems after this season, or keep him on the cheap.

I wouldn't give up assets for Beverly beyond cap space. I want nothing to do with Anderson. He took less money to not play at home last year when we actually were trying for the playoffs, why would we want him around for a rebuild that he clearly doesn't want to be a part of now. It sounds like the Jazz have interest in Beverly, and they should want to give up cap space and some future assets for him, so I would assume that rules us out for this move. It was just something to consider if all they wanted was cap space and no one else was pushing to take him on.

I find it bizzar that so many GMs hand out these crazy contracts i.e. portland ,LA, Knicks, Houston, and then just a year later are desperate to undue them. A 2 year old can see the yrain wreck coming with some of these deals.
I mean wtf did they expect? They not looking down tbe road past the first year? Its one thing to max a guy amd then a freak injury happens. A completely separate thing when the player signs the huge deal then basically goes out the next year and performs pretty much the way he did the year before yet now the contract YOU begged thw guy to sign the year before ia now a major handicap. Seems very bewildering

The fact vlade has shown as much foresight as he has along with the picks he has made in my mind puts him firmly in the better half of GMs already in his short career.

I'd still like to get Patrick Beverly. Obviously we want De'Aaron to get minutes. Frank Mason was a 4 year college player so you figure he's probably ready for backup minutes at some point next season. We could go into the season hoping Fox can make a push for Rookie of the Year but we tried that already with Tyreke and it backfired spectacularly. Last year Dave Joeger brought the rookies along slowly and tried to build their confidence in the D-League and off the bench before fully letting them loose and that seemed to work out pretty well. Beverly only has two years left on his contract and only one of them is guaranteed. That makes him a perfect guy to start the season and show our two rookies the ropes before stepping aside. If Fox is ready by mid-season than we have Beverly off the bench. If not we keep Beverly and repeat the process next year. The only reason I would hesitate to get Beverly (that is if we can get him) is that he might help us win games but I'm over the all-out tank strategy at this point. Either we get lucky with the lottery or we don't. We have enough pieces already to start building a team.

The question then is what it would take to make a trade happen. We can simply absorb his contract into our cap space but Houston would want something of value in return and they're in a win-now situation trying to compete with Golden State so I don't think rookies or draft picks are going to get it done unless they can package them in a bigger trade to get Paul George. Malachi seems like the odd man out with Buddy and Bogdan taking all the SG minutes and Justin Jackson competing for bench minutes at SF. We should have a pretty high second round pick next year too which is tradeable and basically expendable since we're already so low on roster spots. Malachi and a 2018 second round pick for Pat. Beverly? That gives Houston 4 million in cap space and a potential Eric Gordon or Lou Williams replacement. Depending on how you feel about Malachi's potential, that might be worth it from our end. I'll be kicking myself if De'Anthony Melton is there at the top of the second round next year though and we could always just sign Darren Collison to a 2 year deal instead without needing to give away Malachi.

So I guess I'd like Pat Beverly as a veteran leader for our rookies but probably not enough to throw real assets at acquiring him. He's more valuable to a win-now team then he would be to us given our current situation.

I'd take Beverly in a heartbeat. If you want to inculcate toughness, tenaciousness, and defense into your youngins, what better guy to do so? Also, I can see great benefits from Fox and Mason going against Beverly in practice. If they can learn how to score on Beverly, they can score against any point guard in the league.

If Houston is seriously in on Chris Paul (not sure how that works with Harden playing PG for them already) then they might just want the cap space. They're not going to get to $35 million without clearing a lot of contracts. Maybe we take back Ariza too to fill our veteran SF need? They're probably trying to package Ryan Anderson somehow but that contract is intense. I'd say no to that one. Maybe Lou Williams, Trevor Ariza, and Pat Beverly and they give us a draft pick?

Patrick Beverley would be a great pull, I actually remember him back at Arkansas and thinking he was gonna be a steal.

There's no doubt in my mind he'd be able to impart some great knowledge tips/tricks to Fox, I'd love to see them on the floor at the same time picking up full-court defense.... The Kings would have a ferocious PG rotation with Fox, Beverley and Mason.

Good move for Paul. He can split PG with Harden. He can play off the ball and exert less energy than having to run the offense all the time. He must have informed the Clips he would leave them in free agency so they got what they could. Griffin will be next. I think whichever team does not land Hayward (BOS or MIA) will get Griffin. It is possible he resigns with LA but clearer path to Finals if he goes East. I wouldn't be surprised if Doc Rivers is replaced too.

Now they aren't capped out with an aging core that probably already missed it's window and they can go in a different direction.

They were the biggest success story last season (everyone expected the Warriors to dominate) and rather than consolidating their strengths (Harden, three point shooting, and rebounders) and building around what they had they're remaking the entire roster and trying to put together a new big 3 on the fly. If it doesn't work out (like the Dwight Howard signing didn't) they've burned their assets and cap space. This is an all-in move for Daryl Morey. He's putting his job on the line and I don't think that was necessary when they were already the only threat to beat GS in the West.

I don't like the fit either. I feel like they could have made a play for George instead with similar assets.

Trade #1: Gordon, Dekker, Harrell, & 2018 1st for George
Trade #2: Anderson/Future 1st for cap space

That gives them ~$24 mil in cap space with this team:

PG - Beverley / Williams / Taylor
SG - Harden
SF - George / Ariza
PF - Hartenstein
C - Capela / Onuaku / Wiltjer

They could then target a guy like Ibaka or Millsap with that cap space to round out the roster. Beverley, Harden, George, Ariza, Ibaka/Millsap would be an interesting death lineup to challenge the Warriors with (Beverley defends Curry, Ariza defends Klay, George defends Durant, Ibaka/Millsap defends Draymond).
