Pacers vs. Nuggets

Pacers with a furious comeback to tie the game with 20 seconds (including a big three by Peja), then Anthony sticks a jumper with 2 seconds left to give the Nuggets a lead. Peja missed a three at the buzzer.

What I found most interesting, though, is that Anthony's stat line (if yahoo sports is to be believed) is as follows: 12- 25 fg, 7 - 8 from the line, 31 points, 0 rebounds (ZERO!), 1 assist, 2 turnovers and 3 fouls. Granted, he hit the game winner, but what was he doing on the court for 38 minutes that he couldn't grab one rebound?

It seems to me that as others have said in other threads, the Nuggets are the dream matchup for the Kings in the playoffs. Anthony's nothing to worry about with Artest.

Harrison needs to check his temper before the game starts. He is a good player, ut his temper gets him in trouble. He allowed a 4pt play.

Peja's last shot was surprisingly good :) it went in an out, kind of like CWebb's shot against Minny in the playoffs :(

Stephen Jackson - 6-21 from the field. It never stops to amase me what moron allows that clown 21 shot in a single game.

I wish him the same on Friday. may he shoot a lot and miss a lot

Too bad Peja's last shot went in and out, would've been nice for him to hit a game winner for Indy. Not too many times would he get the last shot while with the Kings, cause most drawn up plays were not for him to take the last shot. How about that Carmelo Anthony, he's had 4 game winning shots already this season! I hope you guys are right about Artest shutting down Melo, cause he's been on a tear as of late.

there was a pretty good reason no plays were drawn up for him. HE didn't want the ball. Peja has no killer instinct so at the end he would get guarded by one man and peja wouldn't move to try to get open because he was scared.

Yeah he crumbles under pressure usually. Some people have it, some people don't. He doesn't. He is not a pressure player in any way shape or form.

sadly, despite pejas known inability to make shots down the stretch, hes about as good an option as the pacers currently have...though personally i would be just as happy using him as a decoy, as people will defend him honestly in that situation....why iim not sure....u combine the fact he misses more shots when hes wide open than probably any other time with his missing shots at the end of games, and u would think the odds of him hitting a wide open shot at the end of the game would be nil....

pacers best bet is letting fred or tins try to create something for themselves or one of the other guys and then just cross ur fingers....if its gotten to that point, our odds dont look good....

Melo on fire.. playing good ball. he is now 9-14 in taking shots with under 10 seconds left in a game for his career..wow!

Hicks - You have your issues with Ron. Some of us have issues with Peja and some things we desperately wanted/needed him to do that he simply could not do. It's not that we're dumping on him. We watched year after year as he crumpled under pressure.

If he steps up and gets the clutch shot for you, more power to him. But don't be surprised if it doesn't work out...

Just the voice of experience whispering in your ear.

;)

If you don't make him your first option and don't put all your hopes on his shoulders, he will be fine. He was an integral part of the Bibby/Doug/Peja/Webber/Vlade team and was probably most efficient during the Bibby/Doug/Peja/Miller/Vlade time.

He is much better suited to your system, where you're treating him like Reggie Miller, than he is to our current structure. The only difference is that he has rarely stepped up and been MR. CLUTCH. If you're looking for that, you're going to be disappointed. If, on the other hand, you want a deadly outside shooter who will make opponents pay if they leave him open about two feet beyond the arc, then Peja's gonna work out fine for you.

He can take your breath away with his "Serbian lay-up" (which is what Jerry Reynolds used to call his long three).

Peja there is going to be different than Peja was here at the end. I wish him well. Some of my best Kings memories involve him, along with the others from the 2002-2003 season.

From my point of view, I was just growing a bit weary of all the "be realistic about Ron" stuff when there were at least a few skeletons in the old Peja closet, too.

Both players, both teams and both fanbases are better after the trade than they were before. Both players have strengths - but both also have weaknesses. Bottom line for us is our Kings are back...

Honestly I don't know what to think of Peja. I don't want him starting over Granger next year, so.... yeah. I love that we got someone of his value of Ron... but him being a SF bothers me. I hope we can sign and trade him for someone useful.

I'd love it if Peja could be a 6th man for us for a few years, but he probably doesn't want that, and Danny will need to start soon enough.

Also, Peja moooooaaans really funny :D

Granger will be ready to start next season, but the summer will determine if he does. I couldn't see Peja being a 6th man, yeah..

Yep. He does make some strange noises.

;)

As far as him being a 6th man goes, I don't know if he'd find that objectionable or not.

Quite frankly, Peja doesn't view the game with the same love as we're used to. For him, it's an occupation. It's something he's done to put food on his family's table all his life. He does his job and he does it well, but it's not about the game to him...at least not any longer.

The only time I truly saw Peja excited was when he and Vlade led their country's team to the World Title. THAT was the peak of his career, IMHO, at least in his mind.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. At least he's well-behaved a classy. We need more of that.

I think I like Granger so much that I've subconciously built up a little quasi-resentment for Peja. Danny doesn't start anymore and hardly ever plays SF these days. He's the bomb at SF, and decent at PF.... I guess I just don't understand where acquiring Peja fit in the long-term scheme of things. I wish Bird would just call me up and tell me so I could now and rest easy :p

I hear you and feel your pain.

If Petrie would call me once in a while and let me know what's going on, I think it would be a lot better for everyone concerned. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening...

Maybe if I baked Bird a great big cake....

Seems that torch has been passed -- I heard Jerry call one of Bibby's threes an "Arizona lay-up" a couple of games ago.
