' Now we've got all these weapons, and our first priority when there's free agency is to re-sign Marcus Thornton. Priority 1A is to get a big-time free agent."

I guess this all but confirms that Dalembert won't be returning to the Kings next year. At the start of the offseason, the first priority was to resign dalembert. Now their first priority is too get marcus back and a free agent.

Well, in fairness, Dalembert IS a free agent. But you would think we'd be hearing his name dropped here and there....so who knows what they are thinking. Also irritating is the Maloof "yeah, defense wins championships but Dallas won with SHOOTING!" crap. Did you notice who was playing center for Dallas, Gavin?

If Dalembert isn't coming back we better be getting someone with some decent defensive skills up front like Gasol, Nene, Jordan, etc.

"We looked at his talents on the court. We needed a point guard. We needed shooting. I think what everybody realized throughout the playoffs and the Finals this year is that shooting beat defense. I know defense wins championships, but this year the Mavericks had all those shooters and Miami couldn't compete with them.

Oh. My. Lord. Please tell me these buffoons aren't back making basketball decisions again. Yo Maloofs, I AGAIN offer my basketball consulting service to you, free of charge. Drop me a PM. Might be enlightening.

There aren't enough facepalms in the world if they really think the takeaway from Dallas-Miami is that shooting beats defense x infinity if that is the future direction of this squad.

Exactly. Mavs intense D was at least as good as Miami in the series and it seemed their zone gave them fits too.

I think a lot of coaches around the league are going to be looking very closely on film at the Dallas zone. They did a number on Miami with that D.

There is no rush to sign Thornton. They can match any offer. Restricted FA are typically the last to be signed because cap space can be tied up for 10 days.

This article sheds no light on what the Kings management thinks about their prospects of resigning Dalembert, one way or the other.

In fairness to Gavin, the team did need shooting, amongst other things as well. And while Dallas definitely had good shooting, the major turnaround for Dallas was their improved defense. All in the eye of the beholder I guess.

Still, you would think that if they had gone into the offseason with their number one priority being resigning dally then they would have at least mentioned him in that paragraph. I would think the absence of his name doesn't look good for us.
