One solution may be in Kings backyard - Quincy Miller

Quincy Miller, Reno Bighorns:"He's still young and might be the best prospect with his length, ability to play small forward and power forward, make 3-pointers and handle the ball, too."

Has been top rated in D-league for a month now and does what Kings need most. But does Kings FO do anything? get the kid a 10-day?

WHY NOT? WHAT HAVE THEY TO LOOSE?

I'm all for giving Miller a shot. For that matter with Gay nursing injuries and Casspi out I'd be fine with giving Glen Rice Jr a shot. Or even Seth Curry given how poorly Ray And Ramon have played and the lack of shooting.

Didn't know Bighornes picked him up. A very good talent with better potential than DWill. Main problem is his strength, which severely limits his defensive impact this season. He has funny splits: shoots very well from outside at home, but accumulates much better stats in away games.

It's interesting to see QMiller billed as having the ability to play PF. When he was at Baylor he looked like an obligate wing player to me - no post game, skinny and didn't have the strength or the inclination to fight for position or for rebounds. I wonder if he's changed since then.

Stats from the Bighorns are bullpoopoo, take it as a brick of salt.

I'd rather persue Gerald Green as a long term bench wing.

Bighorn stats are like Summer League stats. It means very little in the NBA because it probably does not translate.

But you never know until you try it. Nice 6 game home stand would have been perfect testing ground. Stats in D-League and summer league mean nothing in NBA but they are an indicator of player strong points considering that level of competition. But again, until you see them in The Game, you have no idea if that player can translate sooner or later into the NBA. Kings need help in shooting and ball handling so how do you ignore a 6-10 220 lb scorer, rim protector who handles the ball well? Beats me but if someone grabs him soon won't look good for FO.

Yeah, I don't see him as a PF at all. People tend to forget he suffered a knee injury in highschool, and wasn't fully recovered at Baylor. Probably should have sat out a year, but he played anyway. If he's totally recovered he's a very good athlete with a very good skill set. Capable of putting the ball on the floor. He was a pretty good defender at Baylor, but then with the 2/3 zone they play its really hard to tell. Coming out of highschool he was considered lottery talent. The injury threw a monkey wrench into the whole thing. If I'm going to give a D-Leaguer a shot, I'd certainly give it to Miller. Were able to do 10 days now, so not risk involved.

Quincy Miller is the guy a lot of us wanted when the Maloofs sold our second round pick for cash in 2012. He ended up going to the Nuggets two picks later. I liked him a lot at Baylor, though he's one of those long, lanky SF types that I tend to overestimate (see also Donte Greene, Chris Singleton, Anthony Randolph, Perry Jones). I'd certainly be on board with giving him a shot. I'm not sure how he fits in to our current roster with Omri and Derrick already vying for backup SF minutes, but talent is talent and we could use it wherever we can get it.

In college, I liked Chris Singleton, but for his defensive abilities and the fact he was a freak athlete. Didn't like Donte Green or Anthony Randolph in college and said so. I had mixed feeliings about Perry Jones. Anyone with half a brain could see the kids potential, but he never seemed to improve, and that was a huge red flag. I don't think the fact that they were the long lanky type has anything to do with it other than coincidence. I mean Kevin Durant is the long lanky type, as it our own Rudy Gay. As I've said before, I hate throwing players into groups. It's like guilt by association. Sorry, just nit picking...

Fair enough. :D I said that half jokingly anyway, but I didn't mean to associate him with other players who haven't succeeded. I was just saying that my own biases being what they are, the fact that I thought Quincy Miller was a top 10 talent in the draft at the time and would have been a steal in the second round should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Looking back at past drafts with hindsight, it's apparent to me that I like freakishly athletic wing players and tend to overrate them (see above) and I don't like scoring PGs and tend to underrate them (Damien Lillard, Stephen Curry, Reggie Jackson, Jeff Teague, even Derrick Rose).

I did also really like Paul George, Nic Batum, and Giannis Antetokuonmpo quite a bit too I suppose and they've excelled so it's not all misses....

He is meeting with several contending teams. Why are we always late? We need every little bit of talent, we can get. There would be no risk involved.
I don't understand the phlegmatic approach of PDA.
Call me impatient, but I want him to do something, cause several teams are succeeding by giving guys a chance, who were basically out of the league. Butler, Whiteside, Covington, Holiday - these guys are valuable rotation players for their teams, while we sit here and wait for some miracle to happen, that turns our bench into something useful.

got em. Unfortunately, this probably means Rudy is going to miss a few more games and we're trying to get some wing depth.

Actually our likes and dislikes are pretty similar. I have a more open mind when it comes to PG's, because its such a hard position to play, and highschool does little or nothing to prepare you for the next level at that position. I'm speaking generally of course. There are some programs out there that are excellent, but not many can get in to them. I loved Lillard in college. I questioned whether Curry was a true PG or not, but loved his shooting ability. In general I like great athlete's. Who doesn't? But I place a very high value on skill level, and unfortunately way too many great athlete's don't develop a good skillset. When you find a great athlete, with highly developed skills, then you have something. Unfortunately, they don't remain a secret very long.

I support anyone with the name Quincy and I actually like a little bit of what I saw from him in Denver last year, I think he's got better potential than both Casspi and Williams but weather it ever translates or not is still be to be seen, hopefully he can develop into a decent back up SF for us in the future we need at least one Quincy on the team.

The kid looked good, except for his shot. Maybe he gets more comfortable and starts making 'em. I sure like his athleticism, and he showed some nice passing ability, which on this team is like finding a puddle of water in the Sahara.

Not to defend him one way or the other, especially since I didn't see the game, but looking at the box score, it didn't surprise me that he struggled a little with his shot. I think its natural for a player to try and impress. Especially when your on a 10 day contract. Which means your probably going to force things a bit. You play your best at any sport when your relaxed and in the flow of the game. It's probably going to take a few games for him to know the plays and relax.
