Keep miller at 5 and start songaila. He'll step up. This should really give him a chance to develop. I'm sure getting Darius more time was one of the factors that made Petrie decide to cut Webb loose.

I'm about 24 hours late to the party, or so it seems, but let me first say that I'm disappointed to see CWebb travel to Philly. As my name indicates, I was a CWebb fan long before I was a fan of the Kings, and in truth I haven't been happy with any of the trades he has been involved in when they went down. This last trade worked out better than I had hoped for CWebb, and were it not for some free throw jitters or a busted knee, may have worked out perfectly.

Still, from a Kings' perspective, I've only seen a few posts stating that this isn't the end of the world, and that's the side of the fence I am on as a continuing Kings' fan.

First, one of the Kings' bigger problems has been interior athleticism. They get that with Skinner, who isn't a stud starting PF in the NBA, but I would wager he got a great recommendation from Terry Porter about his play in Milwaukee last year. He's got the size and athleticism to at least help the Kings out in the area of interior defense.

Second, another problem the team has had has been consistent bench production. Williamson gives the Kings that *if* Adelman will pull his head out of the sand and use Corliss like the Raptors, Pistons and Sixers used him -- as a sixth man PF to take advantage of the other team's second string. Corliss is quite effective in this role. I wish Adelman would've used him there prior to trading him.

Third, the Kings only (and I use that word lightly) really gave up CWebb. Barnes and Bradley are clearly throwaways. Each of the players they received from the 76ers is better than either of those two (unfortunately, none of them hold a candle to CWebb at this point). The problem is that none of the three really play back up SF all that well. I'm quite surprised that Petrie couldn't pry a little more versatility out of this deal.

Fourth, the Kings with Mobley had too much offense, and they knew it. And as some pointed out often on this board, the least efficient scorer on the team was the guy taking the most shots. Trading CWebb, I'm sure Petrie is hoping, will be akin to addition by subtraction for the Kings' offense. Without CWebb taking 20 shots per game, those shots get spread around to more efficient scorers (Bibby, Peja, Mobley, Brad). Sure, some of those shots may be tougher without the defense having to focus on CWebb, but I think the Kings offense can function quite well following this trade.

Are there downsides to this trade for the Kings? Plenty...roster is now pretty heavy in the big guy area...Songaila has played well in a back up role, but does he get squeezed here since he lacks the athleticism of Skinner or Thomas? I'm still shocked that the Kings / Maloofs were so anxious to unload CWebb that they traded him without getting a truly valuable commodity back in return from the Sixers (Igoudala, Dalembert) that they could develop. It's also the end of the run, in a way, that CWebb and Vlade started in the late 90s.

But this team still makes the playoffs (presuming Peja has been playing possum on his injuries to some degree) in the Western conference, and slipping to 6 or 7 might not be too bad if it allows missing the Spurs in the first round.

You say like everything is over,like the other players are simple trash,and that they don't worth anything...I certanly agree that we didn't got equally good players for C-Webb,but championship is not over,and we should be with Kings more that ever now.I still think that we have the best starters in the league!

I can't believe someone with 2 posts is going to jump in at this point and decide to lecture us on how to feel.

Best starters in the league? You do realize we just lost our starting PF and the guy who's been starting in place of perennially not there Peja?

So now we have Bibby, Cat, ?????, ????? and Miller.

Sorry, but I can think of at least 6 other teams with better starting lineups.

Give us a chance to grieve over our loss. Now is not the right time to come and tell people who have cheered this team on together for four years or more what to think or how to feel.

Webber - cost to much, he isn't a leader ( you can see it after Divac left to LA), knee injury, he is bad bad defence player, isn't a clutch player and last - cost to much money
In team with Stojakovic, Bibby, Webber, Miller and Mobley you must have 3 balls ... now team is more balanced, after Dag left this is + in defence, and with mobley offence is still in top 5 in league.

Just a reminder: A lot of us are still in shock. Some are happy, others are very upset. Both ends of the spectrum are understandable. If people want to vent, that's cool but Stojakovic just made a very good point.

We are KINGS fans. WE can be upset about the trade without turning on other members of our team.

And for the record I'll just make it clear that anyone who comes here and dumps on Webber is WAY out of line. We have a lot of people here who didn't like him and they've been civil about this whole thing. The newbies will do the same or they'll be shown the exit.

My recollection is that it's a trade kicker which means he has to be paid part of his remaining salary up front if/when he's traded. They should have the information at realGM but I quite frankly do not have the heart to go there.

I didn't like webber nor did I hate him. I am bitterly bitterly dissapointed that Webber has left, not only that he has left but that we got benchwarmers (No offence to the philly players) in return. When I read on ESPN " Webber traded to philly" I emmidiatly thought "Damn, but maybe we got Korver or Iguodala or even Dalembert" But to get three bench warmers. Honestly, come on Petrie. However I do think that there is something else behind this. Perhaps another trade in the prospect. Who knows only time will tell.

His contact said the kings faxed over 3 forms. 2 concerning the Webber trade and one other. His contact told him about the Webber trade, but would not say ANYTHING about the other trade. He said it was still in the works. So, maybe there will be one more trade before 12 pm today.

There better be!...I think I've calmed down a bit. It hurts more today, but I think I am going to give Petrie the benefit of the doubt. I am going to give him one year from today. If in one year, we are a better team or if it just looks like we are moving towards a better direction, then maybe-...I don't know. I will never come to accept this trade, I wasn't ready to give up hope for the season, but at the very least I will understand this more.

My thought is that the "3 forms" had to do with Michael Bradley??? As indicated previously, I have run this trade through RealGM.com and it doesn't work because Bradley can't be packaged with other players until sometime in March. I'm not really sure how it works but this might have had something to do with it.

Well, you get 4 starters that want their shots on the floor, and one guy that wont shoot because someone else shoots too much you get a team that is in disaray like we had with no bench to support them.

At least now we have a bench.. PLUS we have what still looks like the best damn starting lineup out there!

THe guy specifically said that the first fax had to do with the 76er trade. The first incarnation of it included Glenn Robinson. I guess they decided they didn't want another guy with banged up ankles and knees. Then the incarnation of the trade that happened. The whole trade is on one form. Then there was a seperate trade in the works. The guy from the league office wouldn't say anything about that one. Who knows it may not happen, so we may never hear about it. But, there was definitely something else in the works. Doesn't mean it's going to happen though.

Got home from work late last night and before I went to bed checked out sacbee.com. What a shock. I think this is a terrible move, I really feel sorry for Webber to be treated so poorly. I can't see how this is good for the Kings, maybe it will be, but trying to fit in all these new players, in the middle of the season. I dunno.
