of course with all the trades that went down today 12/18 kingz dont take any action

You're extrapolating like 2 seasons ahead here but that's a reasonable example. Alternatively though we could possibly trade Landry/Casspi/Garcia/Dalembert's awesome expiring for Carmelo. Go 50-32, make the playoffs, advance to the 2nd round and save our team. Who knows really?

Well, 1 season ahead really.

As far as your alternative trade scenario goes, nobody nobody nobody nobody here would say no to it if it came with a Carmelo extension and probably most people would take it even if it didn't (and despite the fact that we still wouldn't have a good chance to make the playoffs at this point or even keep him next season). But it's a complete no-go from the Nuggets' point of view. They want multiple first-round picks and a young superstar in the making. You're offering a useful utility player with a long contract, a young kid without superstar potential, and two junky expirings. The Nuggets, in the parlance of the board, hang up.

I am not great at trade scenarios and yeah they probably wouldn't take Garcia and would want some draft picks. I'm just throwing an alternative out there as an example.

Your living in a fantasy world. They've already turned down better offers than that. They're going to want either Cousins or Evans in return, and I'm not willing to give up either of them. Not to mention the next draft is full of possible star SF's. Let me add that Melo has close to a 30% usage rate when on the floor. In other words he's a ball dominate player who needs the ball in his hands to be effective. He's also a player that does most of his scoring withing 15 feet of the basket. In other words, he won't improve our 3 pt shooting much. If anything the key gets more crowded. If you pair him with Tyreke, the two of them will dominate the ball 60% of the time. You have people crying now about how much Tyreke has the ball. You add Melo and you have two players taking almost all the shots.

Don't get me wrong. I like Melo. But he would change the entire culture of this team and the cost would be extremely high, and for a player that probably won't resign with the team. I'll say it again. Going after Gerald Wallace would make more sense. He may not score as many points as Melo, but he'll give a consistent 16/17 pt's a night and 8 or 9 boards as well. Add in that he's one of the best defensive SF's in the league, and we would have him for at least two more years, and for less money.

I think our team "culture" could use a change.

I also think Wallace is a much more likely candidate too. I've said it a million times, I doubt Melo would come here but I was using that trade as an example of how Melo could help the team. It appears to me that a lot of you guys think adding the 26 year old, 3 time all-star, olympic gold medalist who's averaging over 24 ppg on nearly 50% shooting for his CAREER is going to somehow make us worse. I really don't think he'll come here but come on people we are such an awful awful team why wouldn't we want one of the top 5 players in the league? You guys are delusional if you're going to say anyone on our team is even close to his talent level. If the Maloofs were serious about improving this team they should at least try to make a trade. Like you said, I don't think Denver wants any of our players (which kinda emphasizes my point.) and I'm not suggesting we trade Tyreke or Cousins.

If you just going to throw out any old trade scenario out there, why should we take you seriously. Things have to make sense. Hell I could offer a lot of trade ideas that they would reject. What the Capt said was reality. They've made it clear what they want. So why waste everyone's time with a trade proposal that everyone knows won't work. Were not talking fantasy league.

I agree that our team culture needs a change. But we have to make sure the change is positive. I certainly think that some veteran presence would be a great help. But it has to be someone that the young players respect. which means someone that is currently a star player, or a star player on the downside of his career but with a couple of years left. Someone that the young players will listen to when things start to go south. Wallace may be one of those guys. There are probably others, but they don't grow on tree's, and most of them are desired by the team they're playing for.

It was semi-reasonable. A trade involving those pieces + Dalembert's expiring might work if Carmelo were to not sign an extension. Denver is either going to have to take something in return for him or lose him to free agency (where we will have 0 chance at him.)My post was actually intended to be somewhat sarcastic in response to someone saying Carmelo would not make us a better team which i vehemently disagree with, see my last post for more on this.

I have an example of a player you're talking about, only better since he's in the prime of his career at 26. Also, he happens to be on the trading block right now.

Nobody is saying Carmelo would make us worse. The argument is that Carmelo would leave after half a season (probably without leading us to the playoffs) and at that point we'd have squandered away half of the talent on our young team for the privilege. These are different arguments.

But it is basically established that Denver will not trade Carmelo without receiving a player of their caliber AND draft picks. You can suggest trading for Carmelo without giving up anything substantial all day long, and just about everybody here would be on board...but it's simply not going to happen.

We probably would be if Hawes hadn't turned out to be sort of a bust. It's too bad we can't travel back in time because they could have used the Hawes pick for Arron Brooks or Rodney Stuckey.

Shoot.. Go back in time and............................

Rondo
Noah (I fix the coin flip)
Cousins
Evans
Randolph (yah I still think he's better than Thompson even though he isn't getting PT in NY)

Now that's a team to build on! :)

j/k I know we couldn't have been that lucky.

Except that if you go back and get Rondo/Noah, you wouldn't be in a position to get Evans/Cousins. Not even your sports almanac could get you few enough wins to change that.
