I didn't think that I would be able to do this and I probably won't be able to do the game thread for the Cavs game on Tuesday.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On March 11th 2004 Kings beat Mavs at ARCO 120 - 102 to improve to 48-16 for the season. Kings had one of "those" games and while Mavs didn't play bad - they never had a chance. Kings shot 57% had 39 assists on 49 FGs and had nice contribution across the board. DC lead the Kings with 22/3/12/3, Pedja had 22/5/1, Bibby had 21/2/10, Webber had 16/8/5. Brad Miller had 21/16/3 off the bench.

The Sacramento Kings showed the Dallas Mavericks what might have been in last year's playoffs. Peja Stojakovic and Doug Christie each scored 22 points as the Kings had five players with 16 or more en route to a 120-102 rout of the Mavericks.Dallas defeated Sacramento in the 2003 Western Conference semifinals after Kings forward Chris Webber suffered a knee injury in Game Two. Webber returned last week and Sacramento - finally close to full strength - gave the Mavericks a taste of
what they missed last year.

"We don't have time for statement games," Webber said. "We're in the Western Conference and we just need to win some games. I didn't think it was a good game. The best is yet to come is how I feel. But it does feel good not to stink the place up."

""It was nothing more than an old-fashioned (butt)-kicking," Dallas coach Don Nelson said. "We got our butts beat tonight. They played just terrific."

"They played great offensively, I mean 39 assists is a lot of assists," Sacramento coach Rick Adelman said. "The ball movement was very good."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
After putting up a good fight Kings lost to Spurs and had their winning streak broken at 4 games. Kings also dropped to 28-33 which is 9th in the west only one game behind the Clippers, one and a half behind the Nuggets and 4 games behind the Lakers who are currently in the 6th spot. Kings are additionally 1:1 on the 3 games home stand before going to the East for 5 games in 7 nights. Considering the fact that Kings are fighting for the PO spots the game against the Nuggets has a double value.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron is back at least for now and that is about one game too late. Apparently, 3 days make a big difference. If You are making an effort to make POs and You know that every game counts and You also know that Ron would eventually get back to playing - why waste a game ? With Ron - the player - we are certainly better team and he will help at least until March 22nd or the next stupid thing - he does.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
From the personal stand point - nothing new here. Ron is once again "sorry" for what he did. He is once again saying the "right" things and he will "try" to improve. Talk is cheap and when it comes to Ron - it is also irrelevant considering the "Ron Artest manual" Doesn't really matter. Either way he should finish the season and then go somwhere else and blow up again - which he will. You go ahead and give him a "clean slate" and be forgiving and naive all You want - I am done with that. He will do something stupid again and the level of stupidity is arbitrary. I just hope it is somwhere else.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of someone worthy of keeping - Corliss Williamon is a man that I would like to keep for less money - obviously. He has been mostly great this season with an occasional disaster game. He causes no trouble and the youn players could learn from him at least how to be a professional. Corliss obviously comes with a warning label and it isn't hard to follow it. He is too short for a center and bad rebounder for even a SF. Also You can tell what kind of game he will have pretty early. When he gets hot we need to milk him and that only happens once per game so if he has one good half he will most often be useless in the other half. And of course Corliss should never handle the ball because he is a turnover machine.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of someone who isn't worthy of keeping - Mike Bibby has been reduced to occasional good game and a big shot here and there. He has been mostly pathetic this season with an occasional great game. He isn't even worthy of a MLE right now. There pretty much only 2 valid reasons to keep Bibby - being lack of alternatives and the fact the at least against the Lakers - he usually plays well. Even in this state - Bibby is by far the best Kings PG and that is very, very sad.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kobe Bryant vs NBA is the name of the game these days. While most of the people around here thinks that he is a great player (me included) - he isn't very popular around here but also around the league these days. You know - when things happen over and over and over again - they just aren't coincidence any more. He is above the rules to begin with considering amount of traveling and palming that he gets away all the time but now that Lakers are sucking - which is beautiful thing - he is getting more frustrated and other people have to suffer too. People who have had an intentional albow to their face would certainly have a hard time defending him. Right now - he is playing a "dare" game with NBA and I don't know who will win but I do hope that Kobe will have a early summer to think about it.

coach's corner is sponsored by Jim Beam, Johnny Walker and Jack Daniels. Muss did ok most of the game. He couldn't come up with anything to contain Flopibily, Every time he called a timeout down the stretch - we turned it over. It took him just a moment to remind us why we need someone else. Being down 7 with 4 seconds to go he calls a time out at 1:30 am ET on a "school day" Now I wouldn't be surprised if one of his slides would contauin a potential 7 point play. Before You draw up a 7 point play - shouldn't You draw up a play that doesn't end up in a turnover ? Just wondering
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Playing Spurs without Ron was an uphill battle and Kings did well if You are basing it on resistance. Bottomline - they took care of the ball and made plays at the end. That is the difference between a contender and the Kings these days. We outshot them and outrebounded them and that is usually enough to win a game. It took us a while to take a lead in the game and short after we did - Spurs came up with an answer. Fans were great but Kings weren't good enough.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM goes to Matt Bonner - and who the hell is Matt Bonner. Numbers are nothing special but his impact was felt and we totaly ignored him

LW-VC went to Mike Bibby who yet again failed to step up when we needed him
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nuggets are next and the game counts double. We have owned Nuggets at ARCO in the past and that is a good sign, Also having Ron to deal with Mello will help. Kings need to win this game and it will be interesting how we will deal with pressure. Game is kinda early on the West coast but we don't have Vlade anymore. We need to at least break even in the back court considering the high probability of being outrebounded.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - who knows ?
Ron - just play, shut up and play
Kevin - fill them up - kid
Brad - how about double double
Corliss - one more time please
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
rest - mateen
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - let's see if Kevin still gets the touches. Kool aid flavor - robitussin
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Nuggets are inconsistand and play no defense either. Camby will have a monster game. Mello and Iverson will get theirs. Najera will remind us why we can't stand him. TDM goes to Steve Blake and LW-VC goes to Nene. kings survive.

I found it funny that in the beginning they said "How do you stop the dynamic duo of Allen Iverson and Carmelo Antony?" Hmm... Well looking at their record it seems plenty of teams have...

Very classy about the alcoholic beverages. Yeah, I guess Muss caused those turnovers by taking timeouts. The players must have had too long to think about not doing a turnover and about Muss telling them to take care of the ball, that ipso facto they are forced to go out and turn the ball over. Next time, Muss should say nothing about taking care of the ball so it won't poison their mind with the idea of a turnover. To me, it's amazing we have the record that we do with a point guard and center who've had terrible years and Artest with his me-first-I've-gotta-be-the-man mentality. And I guess it's hard to admit that we aren't as good as the Spurs, so we all need to blame the coach.
