Nocioni & Hawes Traded for Dalembert

I don't know what Philly's GM is thinking in the draft, but I don't think this trade makes any difference on who they're targeting. They had a long term hole before the trade, and they have one now. There's even a better chance they think Hawes is a long term solution at the 5 than they thought Dalembert was.
Bingo! Collins has said he wants an up tempo game with more ball movement. Hawes fits that scenario more than Dalembert does.

According to the philly newspapers they're looking at Hawes as their possible center of the future. They look at Speights as a PF.. Always amazing to me how one team will see a player different than the team he's on. Good luck to them and Hawes..
I wish them well. I'd rather have them looking at Spencer as their center of the future rather than the Kings. I don't feel comfortable making that investment in Hawes.

Well this seemed farily obvious to me. All the people talking about Speights as a center obviously haven't seen him play. He's a big PF. And why not take a flyer on Spencer as a yougn cetner to play next to him? The defense and rebounding will be atrocious though, and if this move was made at the behest of Collins he's going to regret it, and unfortunately so will the kids. Collins is a hardnosed coach. He's going to scream and rant and stomp and probably have a heart attack trying to get those two big talented young softies to play some defense.

Tyreke, Cisco, Greene, Cousins and Dalembert...I think gets you back to the playoffs.

Beno, Jordan Crawford, Casspi, Brockness, Landry and Jt would be a great bench.

I'm Happy.
I think it gets you the #8 spot, at best, in the West...and a first round exit. Keep in mind we still have $20 million to spend even after this trade. If we add another impact player that fits via signing or trade, then we're talking.

READ WHAT I POSTED!!! This is strictly a move to free up a starting spot for Speights. If anything, PHI might take Favors and slide Brand to a bench spot but that is highly unlikely being they are paying him so much to produce. Maurice Speights is a BEAST, when dude was starting he was putting up something like 16 and 10. They shed D's contract to give Speights a shot at the starting center role, with Spence backing him up. They have a young Jrue Holliday as their pg of the future, Evan Turner makes BEAUCOUP sense for them as another backcourt ball handler with size. BUT, this move is strictly about Speights, nothing else, nothing more.
Not sure where your getting your info.. I read the philly newspapers every day, and as yet, I've read nothing about them wanting Speights to start. He's had a few nice games, but has been very inconsistant and has had more (did not play's) than anyone else on the team. He may well turn out to be a very good player, but I'd hardly call him a beast. He did finish the season playing very well the last 5 or 6 games of the year.

This all also depends on the development of Donte and Casspi. If Donte plays to half of his potential, we're in pretty good shape.

Petrie has been quietly putting this team in a very, very good place for the future. I haven't been this excited about the team for a looong time.

I think that this really makes clear that the Kings are out for Cousins, only because Dalembert is not the starting center on any team moving forward...but he is a phenomenal backup for a playoff team (think Mutombo). In all likelyhood this doesnt change what Philly is going to do in the draft, but it will definitely weaken them defensively.

They will still draft either Favors or Turner. Favors makes the most sense because they already have 3 perimeter players on their roster who need the ball (Iggy, lou williams, and Jrue Holiday). Granted, Turner is better than williams or Holiday, but I feel that Iggy is their guy going forward and plays the exact same style as Turner...it wouldnt fit for either of them. If they draft Favors, NJ will most definitely go for Turner, Minny is said to be in love with Johnson, so Cousins comes to the kings.

If they draft Turner, Nets will likely draft Favors (giving them a great 1-2 punch going forward with Lopez on the other block)...a new twin towers if you will. That would still see Minny picking WJ leaving Cousins for SacTown. I think that nothing changed with this trade except it is a clear sign to Cousins that he is GP's man in this draft.

Great trade for Sac considering only $2.4M in cap space will be used this season out of a potential $15-$18M (leaving $13-$15M in cap space) but opens up an extra $12M for next season (and allowing Sac to make a good play at keeping Landry next year)

Hayward continues to worry, and why on Earth we would be trying to draft a THIRD young SF I have no idea. Whatever people may think about a veteran SF, clearly we don't need another young one.
No, we don't but if we could get one better one that's a different story. We need some more quality somewhere, anywhere. I think I'll roll with Petrie yet again.

I got a more for sure way of doing this...work out Wes Johnson, and leak rumors that we're very interested in him. That will stop any teams from trying to leap frog us.
As long as Minny really does like Johnson i dont think we have to worry about any teams leapfrogging us. Im certain the top 3 teams wont give up their picks. I think we're almost in the clear.

All we need now is to sign Lebron and we are ready to make a title run.

I mostly joke here, but a line-up of:

Beno
Reke
LeBron
Landry/JT
Sammy

This would most certainly put us in the hunt for a title. I don't think the same could be said if Lebron goes to NY, Chicago or Cleveland. He needs to think about that.;)

Bad move if you ask me, you don't know what Minny is up to. If they feel that we will pass on Johnson, they could make a deal with GS or Detroit for Johnson. What's the downside in just bringing Johnson in for a workout? Are they afraid they may actually like what they see?

I think the trade puts the Kings in a better position to use any one of the No. 5's that we can/might get: Cousins, Johnson, Monroe, etc. Each would fit better in what we have now and the added flexibility we now have breeds hope for even better.

Hopefully Hawes wont blow up. I still think he has potential. I mean, he's only 21.

OTOH, Welcome Dally!!!

I like this trade. IF we get Cuz, a frontline of Dalembert/JT/Landry/Cuz is pretty good!

I seriously doubt Cousins and Dalembert will see a lot of time together. Both are listed as full time centers, and both have played the center position. Why you put 2 centers starting and leave 2 power forwards on the bench is beyond me.

Ideally, your starting C is cousins playing goalie, while JT has room to operate on his jumper at the baseline. You stick Cousins and Dalembert in the paint, hwere the hell is Tyreke going to go?

Cousins/JT, and Dalembert/Landry.

I think those pairings look very good. Although leave room for the Laker matchups with Bynum and Gasol.

Front office is high on Speights, and they should be. He looked great in the early season, on offense in particular. Like potential 20pt scorer great. A major reason why they canned Jordan was he would not play him.

I'm looking at Dalemberts game log from last season.... he has had some RIDICULOUS games including these...

@ Miami - 19 pts 16 rbs 4 blks
VS NYK - 11 pts 18 rbs (9 OFF) 3 blks
VS NYK - 12 pts 21 rbs
VS WAS - 20 pts 20 rbs
VS LAC -8pts 9 rpgs 7 blks

It will be awesome to see someone on the Kings put up big man numbers like that once in a while.

The trade is done, so you might as well wish him the best from here on out. It may hurt how the trade looks in hindsight, but it won't really hurt us.

Jon Brockman Talking about the trade via Twitter
Going to miss having Spencer Hawes and @SoyElChapu as teammates. Sucks they're gone. I didn't see that coming that's for sure.
Based on his reaction, it does seem like we have some sort of deal in place to keep him around. He's not under contract, but still considers himself 'on the team'. Good News, I want Brockman here for a while.

It is a Blessing to b in this League n Fun, but wen its all said n done its a Business.

Spencer was a great teammate that's for sure. But he didn't translate onto the court. The Laker game showed that he could be real good, but he could never keep it going. Btw, this better not affect getting Cousins. He's still the best player available.

Well, you have to remember that tweets can only be 120 letters ( I think, something like that - I dont have a twitter ). So saying 'b' instead of 'be' has its advantages.
LOL, I didn't want to keep bashing the guy because he's paid to be a professional basketball player and not an English major but I don't buy all these excuses. There are exactly 10 grammatical errors in that simple one sentence tweet. I really doubt it had anything to do with big fingers, 120 letters, etc. I think a lot of these athletes never really had to do anything in school because they were pushed through at a very early age.

I hear what your saying, but Im willing to bet he can spell 'be' or 'when' if he wanted to. Just lazyness in my opinion.
