Noc and Udoka PT

They are good role players for a contending team NOT a young team that needs to develop young players. I hope they are only getting PT for trade value purposes. I guess I can understand if that is the case however their minutes need to be cut down in the process. If they are playing for veteran leadership fine theyve done their job now let Sisco when he gets back and others provide that. Our youth should be playing more minutes. Am I wrong?

They do serve a purpose. If you want to be consistent and award PT based on effort on the defense side. You have to have a few players you bench them for that will come out and hustle on defense all the time. That way it sends a message to young guys like Greene and Casspi about giving constant effort on defense otherwise they have to watch Udoka and Noc like we do. I don't think this is such a bad thing.

I thought about that while making the thread and I get what your saying. I had no problem with it until now. Westphaul is going a little overboard with it. Last night Spencer didnt play badly to not play more and Donte not getting another opportunity in the last game. The same with Omri and Brock in past games. If coach wants to send a message let our second tier young players play. Sergio makes mistakes but who doesnt he makes up for it with good play and effort. What did May do to not play after showing that he was effective the last two games. I thought when Hilton Armstrong played he altered and blocked shots while playing decent help defense. Giving them more opportunities rather than playing our veterans that wont make a difference unless we are a contending team. Maybe I'm wrong am just looking for answers.

I think we are going to see some odd lineups until the trade deadline comes and goes. The Kings want to showcase some players in order to let other teams determine their value. I believe that the Kings are going to be buyers at this trade deadline(which is great if you are a Kings fan!), as they are looking for a solid veteran center to help solidify their front court. Playing time will be effected because players that the Kings already know can play and they have no intention of dealing will get their minutes cut for players that need to show what they got for possible trade scenarios.

I think once the trade deadline has come and gone the lineup will be more consistent in an effort to win games and not to showcase talent for other teams. Everyone has been on PW for having an erratic substitution pattern, but I dont think he has a choice if the front office is telling him he needs to play this guy or that guy. Hopefully this will eventually help the Kings acquire a defensive center who can help them compete the rest of the season. The Kings need a veteran Big to help out Spencer and JT as they continue to mature as NBA players. Spencer is still too thin to be a starter and JT is still trying to figure out how to play defense without fouling everyone he comes in contact with. A Veteran presence in the front court could be a big help not only on the court, but as an example for our young bigs to see how to play and succeed as a front court player in the NBA.

I saw Samuel Dalembert's name come up:

and I think he would be a great addition to the Kings. He is a good rebounder and a good defender who blocks shots and defends the rim. If we could acquire a player like a Dalembert and not break the bank or break up our young core of players, I can see Petrie doing that kind of deal. But what would Philly want in return? Would an expiring contract like Kenny Thomas be enough? Or would they be looking for a young player in return? We have a glut of 2's and 3's that are available to trade. Would they want a draft pick? I am sure that Petrie will only do a deal that is beneficial to the Kings. I trust Petrie, and I am hopeful he can make the right deal to get the Veteran front court player we need to compete. As it is, the Kings have a big hole in their defense and teams are exploiting the Kings front court. A veteran center who could play defense and NOT need double team help could really help our defense as a whole.
