no superbowl in HD for sacramento dish network subscribers?

Go to your nearest radio shack, walmart, whereever they sell HDTV antennaes. They cost less than $30. They are broadcasting the superbowl on Fox 40 over air which means you dont need cable or satellite. Just the rabbit ears to pick up the signal. Just a quick idea, worth a shot.

Ya, I use an off air antennae that I got from Frye's for I think $30 and I get all the HD locals for free.

HD football in general is great. Fox is the lousiest of the bunch unfortunately.

HD, in my opinion, is the single-most overrated development in the history of television.

I'm only half-joking.

I mean, seriously, I've heard some people bow at the alter of HD like it's the greatest thing since the remote control. Personally, I have never once watched something in High Definition and thought to myself, "son of a *****, how'd I ever watch TV without this?" In fact, it's my personal opinion that, if you're paying attention to the sort of detail that HD provides, the game itself must not be any good.

Hockey is miles better in HD, both because of widescreen and because the extra resolution and frame rate makes it easier to track the puck.

When the day comes they actually shoot the football telecasts for widescreen that will show a lot better view of the field.

The rest really depends on the size of your tv.

Somewhat agree.

Is it nice to have an HD picture? Of course. Is it all that and a bag of chips? No. I would much rather have a DVR than HD if I had to choose between the two.

Of course, for large TVs it makes the picture a lot nicer. It is a nice thing to have. But I don't really get all the bitterness over not having an HD feed for any particular show....

Same thing with DVD and HD-DVD/Blu-Ray. I've got an upconverting DVD player. I've seen Blu-Ray. For most people's TVs, you really won't notice the difference....
