No Local Television for Monarchs in 2009

Here is what my ticket rep wrote in response to my question about when the Monarchs Local TV Schedule would be released:

Monarchs will be utilizing a new technology this season where you can actually go online and watch ALL their games, rather than just a few games here or there. While this decision was somewhat hard, I think our fans will be happier with the thought of being able to see all the games (we’re working on both home and away – for FREE) than seeing the couple of local games which are very expensive for our business. We’re still a baby business, so watching expenditures is very important to the longevity and survival of our business.

What do you all think about this?

I am a dinosaur. And though I use Comcast DSL? I don't know if I am going to be used to watching the games in the comfort of my office sitting at my desk:mad:. I want my big screen, with the graphics, stats and the like. And i would rather watch 5 or 6 road games on TV than every game on computer.

I am not down with this.

I'm with you PR...things are not ideal for the viewing audiance. Does this mean all the Kings games will be on line as well:confused: I doubt it. I guess it's better than nothing, still very dissapointing no less.

Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but it's ideal for me... Plus, if you don't have an antique of a television, you can connect the video output from your pc to your television, and watch it from there regardless.

I think you have to look at it from the economic reality perspective. If it comes down to having the webcast of all games (or a vast majority of the games) or no tv at all...which would you prefer? this gets me closer to the return of wnba league pass. I can hook up to the tv (or more importantly my recording device). The league and its teams are bleeding money and this just another symptom of the illness. Be thankful they are spending money to put it up on the web. I don't think the kings games will go totally that route simply because there is more ad money and a broader audience for the nba. Some wnba teams don't even spend to have away radio or tv broadcasts. It could be much much worse...like having nothing worse.

yaay I get to watch the games....BUT I'd rather have both TV and webcast since I think the league needs the exposure. It is at a critical phase of it's growth with womens basketball finally getting on the radar. To have limited TV coverage will hurt that growth. hard economic times = hard realities.

On the one hand, I'm glad that the Monarchs' games (and other WNBA teams' games) can be shown online.

But in my own case, I have a slow dial-up at home, so I won't be able to see the games. :(

I don't live in the Sac area now, so I couldn't get local coverage anyways and this works for me. If all the games are live online andarchived, that would be awesome! I could watch every game whenever I wanted. With that said, I still would want a couple games broadcasted on TV...

In such difficult econimc times, I'll take what ever is necessary to keep the league financially able to continue. It's not ideal, but it could be worse...like no Monarchs or no WNBA.
