The streak of All-Star weekends that will not include Kings of any kind will stretch to five, as rookie forward Jason Thompson and second-year big man Spencer Hawes were not selected by the league's assistant coaches for the Rookie-Sophomore game. - Sam Amick

Wow although im not surprised im just disappointed.

our coaches are to blame for this. both these guys were locks to be there, but if you dont play reg mins your not going to make any sort of all-star team and they didn't.

GOOD JOB NATT AND REGGIE ! ! !

Makes me wonder if that is the hottest streak going? I am not saying any part of the Kings roster deserves to be at the All-Star weekend this year, but over the prior four years, there have been some robberies.

The only disappointment to me is Jason Thompson.
The thing I'm interested to know is how many teams do not have a single player in any event of the all star weekend. Something tells me there are a few other teams out there in a similar position, but not for the same length of years as the Kings.

Other than not having any legitimate stars, three point shooters, dunkers or impact rookies, we've been a thrill ride this past half decade.

Speak for yourself: NBA All-Star Weekend is not only my favorite weekend in all of sports, it's my personal favorite weekend of the whole year. Some people have Superbowl parties, I have an All-Star Game "party." I'm all about Black Thanksgiving!

Quote from Spencer Hawes from tonight's pre-game interview with Grant Napear on JT and himself both being snubbed for All-Star weekend: "That's how it goes when you play in Sacramento, you're not going to get any benefit of the doubt, you just have to use it as motivation."

For the third consecutive year, the Kings have no All-Stars or players competing in any of the periphery events -- no slam dunkers, three-point shooters, rookies or second-year players in the annual faceoff or skills challenges. It is a distinction shared by no other in the 30-team league.

The above quote is from a sac bee story from 2007, no longer online when All-Star weekend was in Vegas. So no, no other team is like us. 5 years must be some kind of record at this point right?

Yeah there were definitely some robberies. The one that comes right to mind is the year Bibby was averaging 22ppg almost 6apg and almost 40% 3P right before the break and got snubbed for Manu freaking Ginobli or something.

I noticed that too. That's really sad.

I think Howdy Doody was hoping for more outrage or discontent from Hawes, considering how he asked the question.

I think Hawes was totally honest and don't see anything sad about it at all. The important part of Hawes' statement, IMHO, was the "you just have to use it as motivation."

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't have a problem with the Kings staying home for all-star weekend. Maybe watching it on TV will be motivational for all of them - at least the ones who'll be around next October.

:)

I don't have a problem with them staying home either, but you could see the disappointment in Haws face.

Part of his "disappointment" could easily have been basic discomfort. Hawes doesn't particularly like chatting with Howdy as evidenced by the episode of Napear making a crack about Hawes' favorite football team at the end of one of their earlier sit-downs. The disgust on Spencer's face was evident...and totally understandable.

Is anyone disapointed that kevin wasn't considered for the all star game. Obviously he wasn't going to make it, but is it just because he missed too many games, or is it because he hasn't developed enough at this point. I think in a better system without ballhogs (salmons), a point guard that can create for others and run a fast break, and a couple of shooters, kevins game would flourish to all star calliber. Is kevin a victim of our system, his surroundings, or does he just need to continue to develop.

Martin WAS on the ballot. The reasons Kevin wasn't considered are many and valid. Among them are:

1. He was injured and missed too many games.
2. He's on a team battling for last place.
3. He's not better than the people ahead of him.

Kevin is not that level of a player. He may eventually be a borderline All-Star type guy, but those guys only get in when their teams are winning. If we put together a winner, and in a couple of years are back over .500, and if Kevin has remained healthy and productive, he'll have a decent shot. If we can get to elite level someday, Kevin might be like Peja and be that 2nd guy you take off of the top team (the first guy would be whoever the eventual superstar might be). But Kevin is not going to get taken off a 10-37 team. He's been hurt, he's not a player who can make you win by himself, the defense has emerged as a huge monkey on his, and our backs. Just doubt there was any consideration at all. Much work needs to be done by all concerend.

Has it really been that long? It seems like just yesterday Peja was in the 3 pt shootout and Webb, Peja were All-Stars. I still remember that game in which Brad Miller got hurt in. I think that was the last year with any Kings involved.

And to all those who say that All Star weekend is a waste of time - I totally disagree. It is a time to see what these guys are like, it is a time for fun, and a time that, besides the playoffs, is always the highlight of every year in the NBA.
