Criminal charges will not be filed against Kings player Justin Williams, the District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday, following allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman at his Natomas home.

According to a press release from the office, the Sacramento police did not find sufficient evidence to warrant the filing of criminal charges.

Police had investigated a victim's claim that she was sexually assaulted early Oct. 12 at Williams' Natomas home. No arrests were made.

The Sacramento County District Attorney has declined to file criminal charges against the Sacramento Kings Justin Williams in connection with an alleged sexual assault last month.

Williams was accused of raping a female acquaintenance at his Sacramento-area home following a Kings game October 11. The alleged victim claimed Williams' girlfriend was an active particpant.

Williams maintained the sex was consensual.

The Sacramento Police Department conducted an investigation in the accusations filed and determined there was insufficient evidence to warrant filing criminal charges. D. A. Jan Scully's office reviewed the case and announced late Tuesday afternoon it concurred with the police investigators' findings and recommendation.

The Sacramento District Attorney's office said it will not charge Kings player Justin Williams on allegations of sexual assault.

In a statement, the D.A.'s office said: "The Sacramento Police Department did not conclude there was sufficient evidence to warrant the filing of criminal charges, and did not request that any charges be filed. Having thoroughly reviewed the reports and conducted additional investigation, we concur that the evidence does not support the filing of any criminal charges in this case."

This should be moved to the Justin Willaiams thread. Please this could be awesome. it couldn't come at a better time with the talks of KT and SAR trade and Artest coming back martin and salmons doing great. If Williams can come back and perform like he did last year or better we can get going.

No, this deserves a new thread. The next - and most important - step for Kings fans will be the team announcement that he's been reinstated.

Anybody want to bet what day he'd be...

...reinstated?

I say over/under 4/5 by noon tomorrow, but I doubt that he'd get into the Minn game.

Bibby
Martin
Artest
Thomas
Miller
Watkins
Hawes
Moore
Salmons
Garcia
SAR
Douby
Udrih
Greene
Williams

That's our roster, right? Teams can carry up to 15 players, although the league average has to be 14.

If I were to guess, I would say Orien Greene just became expendable.

Somebody is going to be in street clothes. Probably Watkins or Greene. Or lik VF said 1 may be gone.

Hope they told JW to get on the plane and head for Minn tonight.

Maybe we can get him a few minutes tomorrow night.

Update from KCRA

Troy Hanson, spokesman for the Kings, said Williams is currently on a leave of absence until further notice.

According to Hanson, Williams is on the team roster but has been inactive for games, and his status with the team will not change until the organization hears from the appropriate challenges of the status of the case.

Reggie Theus just said now that the law says there was nothing to charge Justin with, and there was nothing there to begin with that they owe it to Justing to try and allow him to get back to where he was!!!!

THAT IS EXCITING NEWS!!!!

I'm a huge Justin Fan and I think he can be a very good PF in the future.

Just a reminder - Making comments about the woman who accused him aren't really productive. Let's keep this about the Kings and not let it dissolve into something that would almost certainly end up with a very heated and totally unproductive discussion.

Thanks...

Just buy out kenny and get it over with, there is just no room for all these big men. Anyway i am very happy for justin but sad for him at the same time since he was wrongly accused.

EDIT: i changed my post a little beacuse i didnt see vf21 warn us about making comments about the woman, sorry.

Not being charged and not doing anything wrong are not necessarily the same thing, although I'm certainly hoping that was, in fact, the case. For that reason, and to keep this about the Kings and not have it dissolve into some of the really yucky stuff that happened during the whole Kobe scenario, PLEASE keep your comments about the Kings.

All in all this is great news for the Kings. It couldn't come at a better time. We are in suck dismay at PF that Ron Artest starting at that position was a great idea to most of us here. So having an athletic guy that rebounds great and is a good shot blocker at that position gives us what we need. Now if he can only no look so lost on offense and set good screens.

Good news and hearing Reggie talk about it made me happier as it sounds like Jusin will get a chance to stay with the team.

I don't believe they have to cut anyone. Shakur had to get waived to bring in Beno, because with Justin they had 15 contracts which they are allowed to carry.

Nobody has to get cut because Justin has been carried on the roster for this entire period. Was one of the probelms when we started the season -- we were carrying Justin (legal problems, suspended), Ron (suspended), Mike (hurt) as our three practice squad guys, along with Hawes(hurt) on the active roster. We only had 11 healthy/active bodies, and that was if you counted Reef, who has not looked healthy all year. Pretty srue the roster has been:

1) Miller
2) Moore
3) Thomas
4) Reef
5) Salmons
6) Cisco
7) Martin
8) Douby
9) Greene
10) Watson
11) Shakur --> Beno
12) Hawes
13) Artest
14) Bibby
15) Williams

So Justin will just come back as himself, if he does, and probably knock Watson back onto the practice squad.

Ya I doubt Justin even makes the team. Hearing Napear talk in preseason he said Justin was on the brink of being cut altogether because Watkins outplayed him. My guess is he is not even on the team and he gets cut.

??? Watkins got next to 0 min when Justin was with the team in preseason. The only reason Watkins is with the team is because of the Williams situation and the fact that SAR and Hawes were on the shelf. Even in summer league Watkins never started over williams.

Grant also said the team was trying very hard to trade Ron and he's said plenty of garbage in the past that's not true. All he says is just an opinion. Justin was killing teams on the boards when he finally got PT last year and he outplayed Watkins in the summer league. He also got more PT in preseason.

I looked back at the preseason boxscores and Watkins had all DNP's until Williams got dismissed.

I just realized our PF's Moore, KT and SAR are averaging a combined 8pts 9reb and 2ast for a combined 42 min. Now I wonder what Justin could do with 42? Last year he had 7 games at 20+ min. Only 1 game over 30 min and that was 31 min. In those games he averaged 11pts 10reb and 1.2 blks in only an average of 25min. so he did more than those 3 on 17 less min

In 42 minutes a game, we could expect Justin to get 16.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2 blocks, unless he improves. We can also expect him to airball 5 free throws, but I have to say,
I am really looking forward to it!!!

Yeah Id rather have Justin missing the FT's than Kenny Thomas missing them.
