Terrible loss for the Raiders. Niners left me with more questions heading into the playoffs, though, than I originally had. Sorry, Niner fans, but this team doesn't look playoff-ready. Way too inconsistent.

Lol. They’ve won 9 in a row. I’d say that’s pretty “consistent”. Obviously the D didn’t look great today but I’m not worried, it’s the way the league goes. I’m not saying they’re on their way to the Super Bowl, but to write them off from this one game vs their total body of work is foolish.

Not with that secondary they've neglected over and over again in drafts. They always go later round picks on DBs and its bit em. Evident agaisnt Washington and now again.

I’ve been bashing the hell out of them all day long, but to discredit everything they’ve done leading up to this disaster of a game is silly.

Hopefully a wake up call.

The Niners defense is completely designed and reliant on pressuring the QB. If the D Line isn’t getting pressure on the QB the secondary is going to get torched. They’ve invested their money and draft capital on this philosophy. Whether that pays off remains to be seen. They’ve had injuries at the corners as well, They had zero sacks today, so I’m not surprised to see what we saw. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The NFC is there for the taking. KC, Buffalo and Bengals are another story. Hurts mobility scares me too. But you can’t tell me Minnesota, Dallas, NY Giants, Tampa Bay, Seattle or Detroit are “scary” teams.

I dont think he's discrediting what they did as much as he's questioning their readiness, and I agree. Packers may make the Playoffs, and looking dangerous. The Lions offense have looked good too. Getting roasted on defense is a bad vibe. The offense did just enough to cover the defenses failures, but you can't expect that out of this offense against a better team. They need to get a replacement in for Lenoir against the Cardinals for reps double time.

They might beat Tampa and Seattle with today's effort, but the other teams, no clue. Detroit is definitely scarier than Seattle, and Tampa.

The Niners have played 16 games. The defense has been bad in 3 of those. I’ll take those odds.

Im not happy with the Defense today, but I’m not going to go “sky is falling” either. This crap happens in the NFL. Every team in the league has their flaws. Lenoir sucks. I get it. But most of the time Bosa and the line makes up for it. Let’s not act like the rest of the league are locked in at every position because they’re not. 49ers are still statistically the top scoring defense in the league and the top rushing D in the league.

For the first time ever, I’ll be cheering for the Seahawks next week. A Seahawks win over the Rams makes them the 7 seed and knocks out both the Packers and Lions regardless of their matchups outcome.

Edit: I stand corrected. Packers are win and in. I’ll be cheering for the Seahawks AND Lions :p

I generally agree, but the Seahawks do not control their entry - the Packers do -> the Seahawks must win and the Packers must lose for the Seahawks.

Really? I thought the ESPN standings tie breaker said otherwise.

crap. You’re right. Because they are all tied right now, Seattle wins out. But if it’s just Green Bay and Seattle tied Green Bay wins tie breaker due to better conference record. Packers are heating up at the right time. I’d rather avoid them.

The Packers are kinda like the 49ers of last season - they will want payback. Luckily the Lions are in their way with more to play for than the Vikings next week.

My brother, they're on a 9 game winning streak with the last pick in the draft learning how to play QB and be a starter. The defense has essentially been perfect since the ATL game and just didn't have an answer for Stidham of all QBs.

We did get an answer if we put some pressure on Purdy to go make plays, he can deliver. And him getting that crunch time experience can be so valuable come playoff time

I am not going to go back and pull out the comments after my last post, but as @kingdivac mentioned above, I am not discrediting anything that the Niners have done this season. But, the team I have seen, although on a 9 game winning streak, has shown signs of inconsistency that, if I were a Niners fan, would leave me a bit worried heading into the postseason. Heck, my team's 12-4 as well, but I have a lot of questions about their play and ability to perform in the postseason as well.

Eh, I think most 49er fans are just playing with house money at this point. The fact we're still in play for the 1 seed with the 3rd string QB and the last pick of the draft is a damn miracle in itself. Purdy is an incredible story and has played great, but I don't think anyone fully expects him to just charge into the playoffs and take us to a super bowl. It'd be incredibly unfair to hold him to the same standard as Hurts/Dak/Cousins/Brady and what people expect of them to do for their teams come playoff time

This seems somewhat disingenuous....Purdy doesn't get a pass just because he's 3rd string or 262nd drafted or a rookie. They are smaller factors. He should be judged on how well he plays as a starter, and in this case he's shown he deserves to be above his current predecessors. If Purdy and offense goes as far as Garoppolo has taken them in the past postseasons, he's earned the starting position next year as well I would think. Judging from these last 2 games, its not Purdy we should be worried about either. Lenoir needs to be benched - and get Womack in for reps against Cardinals as an alternative.

Unfortunately the Giants don't have much to play for next week vs the Eagles. They got shredded by them earlier, but the playoff stamp and little difference in potential seeding means they may even rest their players.

The 49ers have done well to get the 2nd seed and now need to hold onto it next week.

After Week 7 this SF team was 3-4 and the banged up defense had just given up 44 points to Kansas City. Since then they're 9-0 and QB3 on the depth chart inexplicably has looked better than both QB1 and QB2 so go figure. The defense did not play well today but it seemed like there were a lot of near miss plays that could have been sacks. Jarrett Stidham should get a ton of credit for staying calm under pressure in his first career start and delivering the ball on target on scramble plays. Good for him. I'm not at all worried about the Niners playoff hopes. They already punched their playoff ticket and while better seeding would be nice, the ultimate goal right now is just to keep everyone healthy. I think the players all know that and they played like a team that has bigger goals in mind. I've rooted for enough losing teams to enjoy a good thing when I see it.

It's hard to really know what to expect with a rookie QB in a playoff game but considering we quite easily could have been at the bottom of the standings right now with more questions than answers at the QB position, our top 5 pick heading to Denver, and a GM and head coach facing significant job security heat for the first time in their tenure, I'm happy with where we're at.

man, the narrative on Mike McDaniel in Miami flipped fast. (Same with Saleh and the Jets)
Hasn't Tua been out for all or part of at least half of the Fins losses? Don't know the rest of their struggles with games missed due to injury but they started 8-1 in games Tua did, with the loss being the back-to-back concussion game (to be fair anyone was getting concussed on that hit). Before completely nose-diving the last month.

I think way too much going on in Miami the last two years for me to get an accurate read on any of it, but I wish the Patriots were beating them more often.
