Sacramento Kings hire top NBA executive as new president

A high-ranking marketing and business executive with the NBA has been named the new president of the Sacramento Kings.

Chris Granger, an NBA executive for 14 years...
I don't know anything solid about him of course, but if he has been the main NBA guy in the market for a while now drumming up interest in the late Maloof years to save the team, then it seems like a strong hire -- he'll already have all the local connections, and league office connections too.

Just off the top, who is more suited for this job than Chris Granger? Vivek has pulled off something that other teams are more than likely jealous of. I love it. A marketing coup with this hire. :):):):)

This says it all. A BIG time exec with NBA experience. Ranadive sure seems to be putting Kings at the top of heap in the NBA. Congrats for a dynamite move.

Granger has led the NBA's Team Marketing & Business Operations (TMBO), which advises NBA, WNBA and NBA Development League franchises on business operations, ticket sales and sponsorships. Granger and TMBO have driven the Kings' current marketing and ticket sales efforts; the Kings lead the NBA this off-season in new full season ticket sales for the 2013/14 season.

We get closer and closer to the new Arena becoming a reality. It's like watching the 49ers assemble their super team of people who made their new Stadium a reality.

There was not a single free agent available at any time this off season that would have a stronger impact than Chris Granger. I am so over the moon about this.

He is the NBA's version of The Wolf. He's the guy they dispatch for teams in trouble.

During the fight for Anaheim, he and Aaron Ryan were sent here. Aaron is now president of USA Basketball.

I had a chance to work very closely with Chris and Aaron. Chris along with Craig Amazeen designed and paid for the Tesla Cesar Chavez rally.

He's new-school. Knows it all. And if he doesn't he learns it. Dynamic. Not in an ivory tower. He very well could be the commissioner of the NBA after Silver.

I know I'm Mr. Kings Cheerleader, but I cannot stress how great this hire is. Amazing we got him.

You're sending The Wolf?! Well why didn't you say so??

Is Chris our first free agent NBA All Star? Seriously, this could be a definite culture change for Sacramento. This can only help secure the Kings business relationship with existing sponsors and create possibilities of major outside sponsorships.

And work on the ever dwindling reputation of the entire organization with the rest of the owners, players and agents. I don't know what The Wolf is but I think I'd rather have him on my side than on anyone elses. Is he anything like The Cleaner in Pulp Fiction?

Um. That character WAS The Wolf.

Harvey Keitel at his best IMO.

If you approve of an off-the-court hire, then I fall in line and agree.
