i think the kings are a better overall team with this trade... the kings have definitely gotten much deeper with this trade... sure these guys they traded for are not all-stars, but they have been very good, solid role players in their careers... and i think that may be just what the doctor ordered for the slumping kings...
since the christie trade, the kings have not had a solid, hard nosed ROLE PLAYER in the starting mix... with 5 all-stars in the starting mix, the kings had no one to do the dirty work and spark the team like christie used to... everyone of the starting 5 needed to score to be effective and they became STAGNANT AND COMPLACENT... and now with webb gone, the kings will probably insert SONGAILA into the starting mix...and he can be our solid, hard nosed ROLE PLAYER in the starting 5... i think this will help the kings overall, because he has shown hustle and heart and does not need to score to be effective... with webb's 21 ppg and 10 reb gone, the kings will realize they can not just step on the court and outscore every opponent, they need to play harder on defense and rebounding...
every great team has a hard nosed ROLE PLAYER in the starting mix... san antonio has bruce bowen... detroit has ben wallace... the lakers had derek fisher and rick fox.... someone starting that did the dirty work... omething the kings haven't had since christie was traded...
and the kings got much deeper with the trade...all 3 players acquired have been solid, productive players in the nba... just the type of players adelman likes to use...kenny thomas averaged a double-double last year (13.6pts and 10.1 reb)... corliss williamson is a former 6th man of the year (career 11.8 pts and 4.1 reb)... and brian skinner is a solid banger and defensive presence (10.5pts, 7.3 reb, and 1.1 blks last year)
to be honest, matt barnes was a scrapper, but we all know that come playoff time adelman would have reduced his minutes to zero because of his inexperience... bradley only got on the court due to injury... but the players that the kings got in the trade are more experienced and have been productive in the league... just the type of reserve players adelman likes to use... with the trade, the kings are two deep at every postition, once bobby gets back for the playoffs...
i think the kings will start to move the ball more and get everyone involved better... i think the players will all step up their defense and rebounding, because they can't depend on offensive talent alone anymore... i think that songaila will prove to be a solid, if not spectacular starter... and the added depth will allow the starters to rest more for the playoffs... i believe the kings are still a championship caliber team!!!
GO KINGS!!!
