this win will be great for the young guys. but what happened to donte? he was playing well.

He played well when he was in. It was a matter of matchups, I think, and also I have a sneaking suspicion that Westphal is still in teaching/experiment mode. Trying different lineups, etc. Also, he's showing that you don't have to baby a player, give him a reward of minutes as if he was entitled to them after playing well. Yes, he may earn them, but if he doesn't play a whole lot the next game, he's got to learn that it's not about him. There are bigger things going on. I love that Westphal is in charge. Man it feels good.

Paul Wesphal - coach of the year?

I recall into his first year Reggie Theus was mentioned as a top candidate for COY around Dec-Jan of that season - Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy one who talked him up and I think Phil Jackson of LA also giving accolades. Maybe a bit early to say same kind of stuff about Paul Westphal.

Anybody notice Spencer holding his own against Brook before he left? And then after he left, Brook starts dominating? Yeah, good job Spencer.

Beno played out of his mind good tonight. In control, mature decisions with the clock, great game management, and friggin clutch shots. He was driving, breaking down the defense, and hitting the 10-12 footers over and over at the perfect times. He's been playing like this all year. I think it's time for a certain kind of thread regarding Beno...

IMO, alvin gentry is the frontrunner right now for coach of the year

Good one. Yea there are alot of candidates out there. Anyone who thinks its gonna be handed to Westphal is looney.

Awards tend to go to winners not mediocre teams so we would need to have quite a few more wins than expected when its all said and done for Westphal to get the nod.

Westphal has gotten noticed because the Kings have gotten noticed. Westphal doesn't get COY unless we make the playoffs. I can't remember of any COY winner on a non playoff team.

HOly Crap 7-8 we are about to hit 500 again WOW what real coaching and a 0 win team can do for a team who will put out some effort!!!!

Spencer actually played very well tonight, on both ends of the floor. He actually owned Lopez while he was in, again, on both ends.

This may be my own imagination, but didn't Hawes play against the Lopez twins in college? Maybe that had something to do with his success tonight.

He does need to learn to control the game and not turn the ball over 21 points and 8 rebounds 3 assists and 4 turnovers is not bad for a guy who has only played 15 games. It is absolutely unbeilevable!

Yes and I think he played them in other games too. He's comfortable playing him. Unlike Oden who he's played a lot and has no confidence.

If Hawes can get over his knee and keep from hurting it while he plays aggressively we could have something but he still has to learn.

I was checking out the highlights on espnnews and I believe there was a francisco garcia sighting! Garcia is going to give this team some much needed versatility. I cant wait until Martin comes back. If Martin and Evans can be productive while being on the floor at the same time....opposing backcourts are going to dread playing us. With that type of firepower in the backcourt all the Kings need to do is find a shotblocker and walla...playoffs.

How I hope the Nets beat LA. You can do it New Jersey! Dont become one of the worst team in history by being defeated by bottom of the barrell SCUM!!!
