I absolutely refuse to be drawn into this kind of thinking. Our young Kings deserve better than have the officiating excuse brought up every time they lose a heart-breaker. There were mistakes made at the beginning of the second half that let the Lakers back into the game and you know what? It wasn't the officials who made those mistakes. It was our Kings. And they'll learn from them.

They may learn from them, but the results aren't going to show for a few years. If we don't get blown out tomorrow, it will probably be another crunch time fourth quarter filled with kings mistakes culminating in another heartbreaking loss.

I don't think the league refs are dirty. But I did just hear a rumor that tomorow night's game will be started off with Nowitzki shooting free throws instead of the jump ball.

I'm not sure what your point is. We're rebuilding and have the third youngest roster in the league. I'm not expecting us to get to the playoffs for a couple of years, so anything they do after April 15 is icing on the cake.

I'd take a game like tonight's over the past TWO YEARS any day of the week. Why? Because, despite the score, it was clear that we have a TEAM, not just a bunch of random players, and we have a COACH.

for criticizing refereeing, i believe reggie theus and kings were fined last year as well. Stern gets pretty serious when it comes to that

The Lakers made mistakes. Lots of them. Enough so that they were losing handily. That is until the fouls started going against the Kings. Why doesn't it work both ways. No team is perfect. The players play there best and both sides miss shots. Why are you picking on just the Kings?

Kobe, as well as LeBron and several others will always get the benefit of the doubt at the end of the game because they've proven they can make that shot or that big play. I'll agree the Shannon Brown play was a bad call. But the refs did not miss two free throws or make all those unforced turnovers in the second half. It's part of being a young team and the growing pains that go with it.

Fair is fair. Doesn't matter if we are a young team or a veteran team. Call it fair and the game will be more enjoyable for everyone.

Doesn't mean that the refs and the NBA should ASSURE that they get twice as many opportunities, just because it "sells".

I don't think the Kings will fined for the announcers showing a replay of a bad call. If the coach went off about it, then maybe, but he didn't.

I agree. It's time to stop blaming the refs for everything. I think some people here probably blame Stern and the refs for swine flu.

Wrong. The Kings will not be fined for anything Jerry Reynolds or Grant Napear say. That's not how it works. Paul Westphal didn't say anything wrong and none of the players said anything wrong.

grant and jerry are still employed by the kings. jeff van gundy got fined by stern for comments he made on tnt while commentating a game.

OK, I guess the ref can claim that he just bumped into him trying to get to the ball. But I watched the video of the last shot like 5 times already, and either I really need to get my eyesight checked, or Kobe's foot was clearly on the line (out of bounds). The ref was looking at Kobe and there was absolutely NOTHING to prevent him from seeing that, and he still didn't make that call. I rarely talk about refs, but this just seems like a bit out there.

If we hadn't lost the 20-point lead, Kobe wouldn't have been in a position to win the game by some questionable maneuvering and a last shot from out of bounds.

The thing is at some point you have to just quit crying about bad luck and a couple of bad calls at the end of a game. Our guys aren't whining right now and we need to quit using it as our "go to" excuse for losing close games.

At some point, we'll find the way to close out teams without letting them back in. And we'll do it without relying on the officials to bail us out.
