NBA mock drafts all over the place!

On the NBA site under 2009 draft is a consensus mock draft (a real oxymoron at this point) showing what 12 of the primary NBA sites have picked.

The 12 pundits have suggested 6 different players for the Kings at #4:
Ricky Rubio (3)
Tyreke Evans (2)
Stephen Curry (2)
Jordan Hill (3)
Brandon Jennings (1)
Jrue Holiday (1)

So 4 PG's, a tweener (Curry) and one PF (Hill). So no consensus for sure.

Is Evans worth a #4 if Rubio falls or opts to play in Europe one more year? My 2¢ worth is we need a PG who can start before the All-Star break, a 2-3 who can defend and score. Diogu is the mystery guy: can he be the backup big? McCants is good at only one spot the 2, behind Kevin but he has some baggage. Heck folks I don't have a clue with 2 weeks to go. And neither do many of the pundits who know more than most of us.

Interesting that Harden isn't even in the mix. We don't need a point guard. We need a STAR. It doesn't matter what position he plays.

This pretty much confirms my suspicion. Were picking Flynn at four..:rolleyes:
 
This tells me just how weak a draft this is... usually the spread is not so wide until picks 8, 9, 10... not as early as pick 4.

I think we will pick Flynn. And be happy with it, too.

I think there is usually a 'consensus' top 3 or 4 in most drafts and it starts to diverge around 4-5-6 typically.

This is true, but not such a divergence that you find 12 pundits split among 6 different guys for us less than two weeks before the draft. That's just fishing -- basically anybody in the Top 10. Well not quite anybody -- interesting that neither Harden nor Thabeet was there, meaning I guess they either thought both will be gone at 2/3 or we wouldn't take them (Harden because of Kevin I'm assumng) if they were there at #4.

#1. Griffin - everybody's agreed.
#2. Rubio - 6 out of 12 agree.
#3. Thabeet - 6 out of 12 agree.
#4. Harden - This despite the fact that the top votes for us were Rubio (3) and Hill (3), and Harden got absolutely zero votes for #4! Why are we supposedly picking Harden, with zero votes, when Hill is available and has 3 votes?
#5. Hill - Even though 5/12 said Harden. Hill would seem to have already been picked by us, and only 3 had Hill going at #5. What's with that?

Last year I found the consensus mock draft to be quite interesting, and fairly plausible. This year I'm thinking it's almost worthless. Half of the mocks have Rubio going to a team he's sworn he won't play for, and many of them have us picking players that Geoff hasn't worked out. Hill, for example, I don't recall our working him out, or any rumored signs of interest at all. And yet the mocks seem to be electing him as our pick.

Bleh! No guidance from consensus this year.

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Rubio not have that much leverage anymore since he sued his Joventut team....I mean it would be awkward going back to a team that you sued...:D
 
I went to kings.com and checked out the workout and mix tapes of Harden, Evans, Flynn, Jennings and Holiday and Harden from my observation is the only one who looks like a complete player who can help a team from day one. The others are okay and they have their good qualities and potential, but after a 17-65 season, we just need to pick the best player, period. Harden has had experience bringing the ball up the court, maybe he could be another Russell Westbrook.
