I was holding out hope that a package of Buddy, Bagley and a 1st would get us a difference maker. If separate parts for roll players and draft potential is the only way forward then see if OKC has any interest moving a mid first.
I’m really curious if Monte is looking to free up the cash to offer to Holmes. Losing a player of his caliber that likes it here for nada is no bueno.

I rate Wagner higher than Moody. Has good defensive awareness and can actually drive, score at the hole, and/or dish to a teammate. Moody’s tendency to drive and stop is troubling to me. If he can’t get to the hole in college, he’s going to have a hell of a time trying to do that in the pros. And he’s 6’6, but long. Wagner is 6’9+ (rumors he’s grown to 6’11) and long. Take the bigger, longer,, more skilled athlete each time.

McNair is less of a gambler than my taste, but I can’t complain about his eye for talent. Wright, Davis…not coint8ng Hali, because that was obvious at 12.
Vlade had a plan. Just a really bad one. Dude put too much value on people wanting to be Kings.

Not convinced they go up for him. Think if they do, it’ll be Green or Mobley.

this team doesn’t really have issues scoring. We need more defense and BBIQ now which is why I want Wagner over Moody
I don't think we'd pick Sengun and he doesn't seem like the type of player that Monte has targeted. But there are teams like the Warriors picking on either side of us and I could see them blowing smoke towards players we don't want.
I was feeling pretty sure that we would pick Wagner and then there are reports we haven't even worked him out (which seems ... very very strange) so I also wonder if there could have been a stealth workout and they are keeping quiet.
Because a lot of the other guys we've looked at could be around if we traded down.

I like McNair’s demeanour. Reminds me of an old friend of mine, says little, flat emotion, but no BS.
Vlade always tried to get fancy with getting two for onés then picking inferior talent.
He was mind boggling clueless.
Anyways good arguments for Both Moody and Wagner.

If the Kings go with trade for Hield, hopefully Moody is available. Wondering if the Warriors go after him. If no trade, then Wagner or Moody - either one is fine.....I dont like Sengun at 9 - he looks a bit oafey, and hardly uses his left, and questionable jump-shot - pretty good motor though.
Cade reminds me moderately of Tatum.

Better odds that one of the 59 picks after Cade will be better than him. Will he be good? Yes. Is he a sure bet for multiple all star games? No.

I don’t think he has that type of elite scoring. Time will tell.
I didn't think much of Tatum when I watched hi s college highlights. He seemed like a jack-of-all-trades, master of none player, but badly wrong.
Usually every draft has a hidden All-Star or near all-star that not many foresee. Its a crap-shoot for sure - especially in the NBA where player talent is much more impacting with just 5 players on the floor.

Vlade came up with something though even if he went for the big gamble and it didn't pay off. I wanted him to save his space I think for 3 years and at least he did it for 1 and that netted him Barnes during the season. Blowing his wad on role player centers was a mistake for sure. One that Monte is left with considering now Holes is either getting overpaid here or elsewhere.
Yeah, so far McNair is off to a decent start, but the real game begins this draft since there's likely nothing falling into his lap and depending on what he does could it put this franchise and the player chosen well behind the 8 ball if they aren't a fit to was is a pretty loaded situation already. Likewise with a trade for a win now type. Spending more on less upside is a bad idea IMO if he can fill the same need in this draft so he better be really, really selective. If he makes trades getting out from some salary and clearing the way for some of the young talent on this team might be wise.
As for McNairs eye for talent, we'll see about that. I still think usage is the problem and picking the wrong player could just simply make things worse. I do like his 2nd round selections last year but as it was, total fodder in favor of non-needle movers or impending FA's picked up at the deadline being allowed to showcase while on their way to not even getting the 10th seed. What a waste of time. In the draft Vlade clearly let individual workouts mean way too much when the pick wasn't obvious, and heck, even when it was with Bagley. Now we'll see if McNair is the same. In the end Vlade's biggest flaw was assembling a legit cohesive team on paper and then allowing his coach to completely make a mess of it and do nothing about it until it was too late. It happened 3 different times, in 3 different ways, under 3 different coaches. Now that's ridiculous. On the flipside as soon as one of his big signings or moves looked like a fail he got out from under it.

Yeah I think this year would be a real test for McNair. He has observed a whole year and he has to do better than 31 win next year. I expect to see some needle mover trades than getting role players with 2nd rd picks.
I remember a lot of people flat out didn't want him because they thought he was going to be end of career Carmelo Anthony.

I didn't think Tatum would be an elite player either. The hardest thing to turn elite, imo, is handles. Hence why I overrate it above shooting, which can be improved with hard work. Tatum's handle translated. Harden's did as well. And Curry's jumped. But for everyone of these players, there are like 10k benny macs. If Cunningham's handle translates, he'll be an all star level player. I'm not convinced it'll translate. It's loose and I've seen him settle too much for my liking.

I didn’t see 22 mentioned but if we can get it, I like the trade. Without it, it’s an ok trade I guess. They really want to get rid of Kuz, like more than we want to get rid of buddy who has an elite skill.

Zach Lowe had the DraftExpress guys on his latest pod, and they discussed the impression around the league that someone, likely the Kings, has made a "soft promise" to Wagner. They joked that it's not clear what exactly a "soft promise" is, but given the rumors that they're looking to move the pick, I could see it being something like, "we're going to look at trade options, but if we still have the pick at 9 we're taking you."

There are several reports of the Warriors taking Wagner at 7.

This is such an interesting draft in that, outside the top-4 (maybe top-5, given Scottie Barnes' ascendancy?), there's almost no consensus about what should happen after Cunningham/Mobley/Green/Suggs/Barnes are taken. Big boards and mocks are all over the place and rumors like these are changing things by the day.

Unless there is solid offer for the pick to improve the team, Kuminga is a no brainer. The risk is there but we need to acquire the best talent.

"--22!?!" is my comment, as in, I hope 22 is included!!!
The trouble with including #22 is that the draft is on the 29th, but Harrell has until the 31st to opt in on his contract. The Lakers could always pick *for* the Kings, and then just deal with it if Harrell opts out, but it's a bit of a sticky situation.
With rumors that there are other teams in on Hield, it seems to me that the Lakers deal is unlikely unless Harrell opts in early. And the only reason Harrell has to opt in early is to facilitate the trade - so not only does the trade have to be one the Kings want, but Harrell also has a near veto-clause on any such deal, so he'd have to want to be here as well.
