[NBA] Comments that Don't Warrant Their Own Thread (December)

How good has Kevin Love looked this year? It seems in almost every game he gets atleast 15+ rebounds, that's unreal how consistent he is becoming, he has been posting 20/20 games with ease. It seems UCLA players are just productive as can be, you got Kevin Love & Russell Westbrook each doing their own beastly thing.

Another 20/20 game for Love tonight.

I remember that draft there was some talk of Petrie maybe targeting Love, and everyone said he was Hawes 2.0. Hawes 2.0 with an extra ten boards per game maybe.

He's clearly making a statement about being an all-star and also most improved.

I don't remember anybody saying Love was Hawes 2.0. The knock on Love was that he was short and pudgy and couldn't beat up NBA guys like he did college guys. No question about Love's motor or rebounding, though, which were the biggest problems with Hawes (along with being too skinny, another deficit Love obviously lacks).

Shout It Out: Sterling Heckles Davis

It’s not uncommon to hear Los Angeles Clippers fans heckle Baron Davis(notes). Of late, however, the jeers directed at the team’s struggling point guard are coming from a far more surprising source: The man paying Davis, Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Sterling has expressed his displeasure about Davis’ play by taunting him from his courtside seat at Clippers’ home games, several sources told Yahoo! Sports. Among Sterling’s verbal barbs:

– “Why are you in the game?”

– “Why did you take that shot?”

– “You’re out of shape!”

While Sterling has also taunted other Clippers players since the middle of last season, none have received it worse than Davis, the sources said. Davis has missed 14 of the team’s 25 games this season and is averaging 7.4 points while making a team-high $13 million. Including this season, Davis has three years and nearly $42 million left on his contract.

“There’s nothing I can say,” Davis said of Sterling’s taunts. “I have no comment on that. You just get to this point where it’s a fight every day. It’s a fight. You’re fighting unnecessary battles. I’m fighting unnecessary battles.

“When they make shots, it’s great,” Sterling said during halftime of the Clippers’ loss to the Orlando Magic on Sunday. “When they don’t, we’re all disappointed.”

When asked for more explanation, Sterling shrugged and politely ended the questioning.

“The owner of the team has to be the main supporter of the team and the staff,” the source said. “And when the owner of the team isn’t supporting the players, it doesn’t give you confidence to play the way you want to. This guy is supposed to be on your side, not against you. You want someone who can support what you’re doing and be on your side.”

Wow...heckling your own players. Baron Davis hasn't lived up to his potential (I wouldn't have offered him the contract or that amount no matter what he was doing in Golden State at the time) but I can't imagine a owner acting like that..I think it's time Donald sold the team to someone else.

I think it has been established that Donald Sterling is more or less one of the least decent beings (let's not grace him with the adjective "human") on the planet. This isn't terribly surprising, though it does make me thankful for having the Maloofs on the sideline - always making the minimal gesture of rooting for their guys instead of dissing them.

Laugh out loud at Sterling. He is pissed off that Baron isn't playing up to his contract when he is the one that gave it to him. What a hypocrit.

Manu & Pierce with game winners. Anybody catch Nate Robinson make a fool out of himself at the end of that game? I'm sure most of you have. HAHAHAHAH!

The Knicks had only 0,4 seconds for that last shot, even though the picture shows they should've had 0,7. Who knows, maybe Amare's shot would count in that case...

It's MSG's responsibility to control the clock. Besides, does the clock stop when the ball goes through the net or when it hits the ground?

I think everyone needs to give Amare his due. A lot of people doubted his ability to play without Nash, and he's been lighting it up with the Knicks. Kudos, Mr. Stoudemire

I know I was one of those doubters. Def. give kudos to this guy.

Well my negative impressions of Stoudamire have never been related to his ability to score but rather his ability to defend and this performance does nothing to change that. On the other hand, I have been surprised by his leadership skills in turning around that team's season when it looked like they were in a tailspin early on. I didn't see that coming so I'll give him kudos there.

Back to back Ginobili game winners. I don't like that charge call in the end, it might of been the proper call but refs just need to let the players play with the game on the line like that.

I thought it was a clear, must-call charge. There's a difference between not whistling a ticky-tack foul call in the final seconds and letting the game become rugby. Imagine if Ginobili had run up to Anthony, punched him in the face and laid a football tackle on him - the point being "let the players play" does not and cannot mean "ignore the rules completely". Taking up defensive position is one of the primary tools a defender has, and you can't take that away on the final possession by saying "no charges called". I can even see a no-call on a very close play, but this was clear. Ginobili had position, and the refs had to call it. Absolutely had to.

I guess they did have to. I'm just saying that I don't like anything being called down the stretch having the refs determine the outcome of the game. But that's just me, rules or not.

But if the refs don't call a clear foul/violation down the stretch they are determining the outcome of the game by that failure. Not having the refs determine the outcome of a game down the stretch means not calling ticky-tack or questionable fouls, but it also means not shutting their eyes to clear fouls. It works both ways.

If you say so.

The Heat killed the Knicks by the way, can't say I saw that one coming. Plus Amare's 30+ point streak has ended. I guess Miami is getting there ish together, I'm still not too impressed though. They have yet to play LA, Dallas, San Antonio, OKC, etc.

I understand it but I don't like that sort of mindset to "let the players play". If they foul or travel or whatever, then the refs should call it. Whether it's in the first 10 seconds of a game or the last 10 seconds, it shouldn't really matter

Well your obviously going to call a travel call, well...maybe not cause Ginobili got away with one. But other than that, I just don't like the charge call in general so that's why I must be so objective to this.

Remember, a majority of the Kings players that leave here usually play better once they get traded just because they can.

And who has LA played? Nobdody.
