NBA All Star Weekend 2014

The crowd was awful. I mean AWFUL. There was more energy at the pre-game warmups of the Kings-Bobcats game in Charlotte.

Note to the NBA: Never come back to New Orleans for an All-Star game.
 
I was expecting another round of individual dunks. That team dunking was god awful. Yea they were nice in game dunks, but you can see they were holding back for their individual stunts.

There were rumblings that bmac was going to do a 720 and had there been an additional round for individuals, we may have seen it bring the house down.
 
I mentioned it elsewhere, but the whole thing tonight reminded me more of an SNL parody of the All-Star weekend.

Lol.. So true. In fact less nick cannon and music would have allowed more time for dunks. They still could have had time for individual dunks and still awarded the East/West money based on where the winner was from.

During the dunk contest it didn't help that Kenny et al. were just jabbering away at unrelated topics. At one point one of them even referenced the dunk contest they weren't paying attention to. I suppose that is more evidence the format was terrible if even the commentators couldn't keep interested.
 
New Orleans is home to some of the best music and musicians on the planet. Sure a shame none of them were invited to the All-Star Weekend celebrations.

I read the tipoff was 5PM. I don't have an problem with pre game events, but my time is limited and I came in to watch the game, not snoop dogg. Oh well

Excuse my obvious age and demographic ignorance, but who's the guy "singing" right now?
 
Is he twerking? I'm recording this so don't know. The music is a show and I don't take the game seriously but at least it is basketball.
 
This is ridiculous IMHO. I've wasted an hour waiting for the game to start. Had I known it wouldn't really start until 6 p.m. I wouldn't have bothered to turn in at 5...

For some reason, the whole weekend's activities have really irritated me. And to top it off - they're wearing those ridiculous sleeved t-shirt abominations. I'm almost glad I won't have the image of one of our Kings in that garb. My eyes still burn from the gold lame outfits.
 
Wait. Wait, wait, wait... So now the players don't even wear their own team colors? When did this happen?
 
The bright-colored jerseys are making my eyes hurt. Somewhere along the line this whole thing has gone horribly, horribly wrong. Circus uniforms with guys in clown shoes just doesn't do it for me.

And Violet Freaking Palmer is one of the officials? Yeah, that's the little candy candle holder on the icing on the cake. :confused: :p :eek:
 
I just tuned back in... I gave up waiting so I did some BBQing outside. But after having dinner, it's now Halftime which I'm sure will be longer than normal -__-
 
I have to agree with Chuck: no other sport does as good a job of honoring and celebrating their legends during their All-Star break than the NBA; it warmed my heart to see the arena sing "happy birthday" to Mister Russell.
