I made these for a basic advertising class when I was in London. In our final assignment, we could more or less create an advertisement for anything; I naturally chose basketball. Basically, I explained how the NBA launched its “NBA Cares” pr/advertising campaign in order to counter its recent poor image. It’s a great campaign, but it doesn’t promote the actual game of NBA basketball. I wanted to create an advertisement that at the same time improve both the NBA image and basketball. I thought I could do that by drawing the fan in closer to the game – emphasize the NBA star status while at the same time showing that they deal with the same life changing problems that we all have. This is what I came up with.
