Change in team outlook: -39.6 ppg, -6.1 rpg, and -7.2 apg.
Successful Scenario
Due to Indiana, Chicago, Portland, Yum! Brands, and Sacramento being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Indiana, Chicago, Portland, Yum! Brands, and Sacramento had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Why Indiana does it:
They clearly miss Ron...and so does Ben. Getting Artest, Wallace, and O'neal together would make an awesome reality T.V. show, and could really help the Pacers generate some extra cash.
Why Chicago does it:
Good question, I'll work on that.
Why Portland does it:
This would obviously be a hard sell, but Petrie seems to have a knack for making deals like this work. I think we could convince them if we offer to have Geoff fly up to Portland once a week to mow the grass around the Stadium.
Why Yum! Brands, Inc. does it:
Well, Kevin Martin is 'bigger'...
Why Sacramento does it:
Well, if we really are in a 'win now' mode (which is obviously the most logical thing for us right now), Dunleavy, Miller (playing PF), and Lafrentz would make a fearsome front line. The Taco Bell dog would also be nearly impossible to guard and is much younger than Bibby (he can't be over 9 or 10 years old). Losing Kevin hurts, but he's only getting in the way of Douby's development as a player anyway.
Sacramento Starting Lineup:
The Taco Bell Dog - PG
Quincy Douby - SG
Mike Dunleavy - SF
Brad Miller - PF
Raef LaFrentz - C
Any thoughts on this? I think the only question is would Chicago do it, other wise, I think it's pretty golden. Signing LaFrentz to an extension would be my first priority after this went through, we need to lock him up as long as possible, no matter how much $$ we have to spend. Winning aint cheap.
