Musings of an Idiot

Chad Ford just doesn't have a clue and once again he proves it.

Here is some more of his vemenous spew, that espn refers to as the insider!

THE REST

A number of other teams don't have the need and/or assets to make a trade. Who will likely be quiet as the trade deadline approaches? Unless the Bucks decide to give up Michael Redd, the Cavs likely will save their money for the summer so that they can re-up Zydrunas Ilgauskas and to try to lure Redd out of Milwaukee. Players such as Dajuan Wagner and DeSagana Diop also are available, but if they're dealt, they will be small deals for more expiring contracts. … The Pistons would like to add another big man to the roster, but their trade assets are really gone. They like everyone on their roster. And no, they aren't trading Darko Milicic. … The Pacers face the constant temptation to swap Ron Artest or the constantly injured Jonathan Bender for someone who can help them now. They'll resist. … The Suns already have added Jim Jackson and Walter McCarty. To do anything else, they'd have to ship out Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion or Quentin Richardson. Given the way they've played lately, don't count on it. … The Kings would like to find a new home for Chris Webber, but the only team that really wants his contract, the Knicks, can't offer much in return. Look for them to give this team one more shot at making it to the Finals. … Adding Alonzo Mourning to the roster likely will be it for the Heat. They'd love to get Donyell Marshall and dump Wesley Person, but right now things don't look good unless they are willing to part with draft picks and a young asset like Dorell Wright. … The Spurs continue to shop Malik Rose but can't find any takers. … The Clippers have three interesting expiring contracts with Kerry Kittles, Marko Jaric and Bobby Simmons. Kittles is gone, the team wants to re-sign Simmons and Jaric is somewhere in the middle. The Clips also seem to be way down on Chris Wilcox. They have a lot of options right now, but knowing the Clippers they'll do nothing and sort things out in the summer. … The Wizards aren't going to mess with a good thing. There might be some interest in moving Kwame Brown, but with his injury this year, his stock is at an all-time low. They'll probably get him for cheap this summer. … The Bobcats' plan is to save cap room for 2007. They are in no hurry and want to wait and see what the draft brings them next year. Expect them to stay patient unless a team offers them a young prospect they can't pass on.

Note Ford now seems to know the intentions of the Kings organization. Does he have Petrie's ear???? My thinking is that he just one of the many that does not like Webb, and assumes that this organization does not want him either.

Chad is an idiot of epic porpotions.

Thats alright I heard Stephen A. Smith say last night that he "would love to see Chris Webber take a 4th quarter shot sometimes this year. Bibby is good and all, but Webb needs to take shots at the end of the game."

Do these guys actually watch any games?

Seems to me you need people to get you into position for the fourth quarter shot to mean anything at all. And, I agree, he must not watch many Kings games if he hasn't seen CWebb shoot in the fourthe quarter. If he wants to gripe about something why doesn't he single out "superstars" who score but don't rebound or hand out assists like Webb does...I mean, how many triple doubles does he have to have to get any respect? How many other PF in the league average 20/10? Hey, pundits, don't look now but your stupidity is showing!!

For the 3rd(4th?) year in a row.........it's worth repeating:

CHRIS WEBBER IS NOT PLAYING FOR THE NEW YORK KNICKS

Does he like Isiah? Yes

Is he intrigued by playing for a guy he grew up idolizing? Yes

Ultimately he wants to win a championship in/for Sacramento.

As far as SAS is concerned, if he actually stopped yelling so much he'd realized how many 4th quarter shots Chris actually has taken.

Chad Ford has now, with this latest "gem," reached a status never before achieved (in my mind, at least) in the annals of sports writing.

To Chad Ford I therefore bestow the coveted and heretofore unawarded trophy for:

VF21's Dumbest Sports "Writer" In the History of the Universe!

Do you realize the combined total of all PFs and Cs in triple doubles in the whole league is 0. Webber has infinitely more TD's than them all combined. Tim Duncan came close a couple days ago but couldn't get the last assist.

I think you mean the combined total of all PFs and Cs NOT NAMED WEBBER is zero, right?

I linked to that information in the thread about Webber's triple doubles. :D

Hate to bring it up - but do you have all have Petrie's ear either? As far as who is more likely to have spoken to someone and know some inside info, I'd say it's Ford. The Kings have looked into trading Webb - just as they probably looked into trading peja. It's Petrie's job. Webber's a great player, but if you look at his whole situation with the injuries and contract, trading him would make sense if you could get equal value (an all-star level player) - unfortunately, you can't. My point isn't that the Kings should trade Webber, but that you need to get off Ford's back because, to put it bluntly, what he said made sense and he's certainly more informed than some fans who hang around a message board every other day.

Thing is no trade makes sense other than the Knicks who have nothing to offer and we will get nothing in return. The only trades will make the Kings worse, or so I believe. There is no reasonable trade that will get us anything, do you really want Penny or Tim Thomas on the Kings. Those guys won't do jack.

1) I would argue that Chad Ford does is not more informed then most fans on this message board. We tend to get breaking info significantly earlier then the ESPN wire. That is a testament to wonderful members we have on this board.

2) My point isn't as much as Chad Ford not having Petrie's ear, but my point was more to the fact that Petrie just doesn't let his dealings come out until he wants them out.

3) I will get off Chad Ford's back when he gives me a reason to be off. He is consistently dead wrong. His trade speculations rarely, if ever, come true.

He talked about dismantling the Celtics a couple weeks ago, they did absolutely NOTHING. He's talked about trading Peja for the last 6 monthes, NOTHING. This Webber thing has been on the Wire ever since we resigned him, NOTHING. You can go on and on. Eventually I guess if you make enough rumors 1 will be true I guess.

Did we hear anything about the Mobley deal before it happened, no. My guess is most trade talk is way under the wire, meaning below Chad Ford's vision. I wouldn't worry about anything he is really talking about.

Jeez,

all of you act like he killed your dog and then spit on your mom on his way out the door.

He reported <presumably> idle musings as something very mildly more than that. Period.

Its not about what he said mcsluggo, its about how often he wastes bandwidth and paper saying it.

We heard this arguement 6 months ago and nothing happened, I would think at some point he would give it a rest.

Same guy who "supposedly heard" that Adelman and Bibby were arguing in the team plane over playing time.

I hate to bring the obvious fact that this "trade to New York" has been circulating since he was a free agent. Every 3 months, it's recycled.

Nothing he said in this case made any more sense now then it did when the same "trade idea" was made each and every time the Kings play the Knicks.
