I just watched ‘The Wiz’ on cable last night. And I can’t get it out of my head. What a trippy movie, the writer must have been on one serious acid trip, heh. Great film. I would like to get the soundtrack.

Ok so i found two really old movies that i was obsessed with as a child on the internet today and i ordered them, does anyone remember the movies Breakin' and Thrashin'(both end in "n' " kinda funny). I had not seen these movies anywhere before on dvd, then the other day i was bored and started looking up old movies, and low and behold, there they were. I was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of these movies, or if maybe i was just a weirdo child with way way too much time on my hands to rent movies.

The last movie I saw in the theatres was "Phantom of the Opera" I only went because my sister wanted to see it and I did not think I'd like it, but I absolutely loved this movie. If I had listened to the critics I would never have seen it...glad that I didn't listen. Great Movie...saw it three times now altogether!

Oh yeah, those breakdancing movies of the 80’s. I think they’ve aired them on VH1 before. I hope you didn’t pay too much for them. ;)

Been watching some spanish movies lately.
I highly recommend 'Sex & Lucia ' and 'Bad Education'. Warning: lots of nudity and perverted themes, but both movies have great twists...

Hall of Famer
Sio this morning I was killing some time while getting breakfast together and noticed Radio Flyer was on. It has been years since I watched it but I remembered it being prety disturbing... why do I do these things to myself?

i just watched a french movie called " a girl from paris" it was about a girl who decided to become a farmer. it was pretty good. loved all the french, the scenery was cool. nice story.

I rented 'The Grudge' Friday night. I had been told it was terrible, but decided to chance it anyway. They were right, it was awful and very stupid. There were a couple of scary scenes in the beginning, then it all fell apart. I watched most of it on fast-forward. But I liked seeing Japan and 'Ethan' from 'Lost' had a small role so it was nice to see that cutie-pie again.

Did anyone here see Napoleon Dynamite? Why did everyone like it soo much?
I saw Napolean Dynamite. I liked the wierdness and blandness of it. It was different from most teen movies that you would normally see.

ATTENTION: RENT THIS MOVIE

"Something the Lord Made" The best film i've seen in years. Originally an HBO film I think. The director came to Chapman and screened the film. You should be able to get it at Blockbuster.

i watched excalibur, and i was almost bored to tears. i only watched the whole thing becuase i wanted to get the whole story since the movie king arthur did really butcher it up ( but that was still a good movie :D)

i'm just way too spoilied with modorn movies and special effects LOL!

i will definelty be reading the book as soon as i'm done with the ones i'm reading right now

I saw 'TIGERLAND' (Colin Farrel,Matthew Davis) before a few days.
So strong, and so emocional movie...I cryed at the end like I never cry from last 2-3 year (when I watch some movie). Colin and Mattew are great realy...

Must see:

The Motorcycle Diaries (Diarios de motocicleta)

It's a dramatized account taken from the journal of Ernesto Guevara (before he was known as "Che"). The story entails a motorcycle jouney across South America with his best friend Alberto Granada. The adventure leads to him finding out his destiny and ultimately becoming "Che". The Film is in Spanish with English subtitles and stars Gael García Bernal who also stars in "Y tu mama tambien" and "Amor Perros" - two other brilliant films. And if you want to read a detailed account about Che Guevara's Life, you should definately read "Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life by Jon Lee Anderson.

Okay, I admit to not reading much of this thread. I have not been trying to keep up with it, because I do not usually go to the theater, or rent movies. However, I need to rent a movie to take to my mom's on Easter.

My mother is 76 years old (is very religious) and she likes family entertainment films. For example, she was just delighted with Finding Nemo. So, Disney and Pixar are best bets.

Are there any movies that have, fairly recently, been released that I should check out? All suggestions appreciated.

Princess Diaries 1 & 2 are good disney movies--great for all ages. i haven't seen it yet, but I hear Shark Tales is pretty good.

That's all I can think of at the moment 6th.

"A Bugs Life" is pretty good. The "Toy Story" movies were good as well. "Monsters, Inc." too..These aren't really THAT recent though.

Rent the Incredibles 6th, you and your mother will enjoy it. It's excellent.

I went and saw the Ring 2 last night....it actually wasn't bad. I don't think it was AS creepy as the first one but it definitely had some disturbing parts to it...that damn little boy in it is prolly the creepiest kid i have ever seen. But i would recommend that if you liked the first one that you go to watch this one also, i don't htink that you will be disappointed, for a sequel it was very good.
