Monta Ellis

Outside of the Bledsoe rumor I don't understand the players we are getting linked to by the media.
Lou Williams? Now Monta? Not the type of player I would prefer for the Kings centered around Gay and Cousins.
We've also been linked to Lin. I think we're decent contenders for him.

Lin could be a nice get at a decent price, he can be a really good back up.
Though i'd like us to target more of a combo-guard that can also play next to DC (love the Stuckey suggestion) if we strike out on these guys Lin can really boost our 2nd unit, adding Lin and WCS/JT to are 2nd unit is a big boost.

I think if we want Lin to come off the bench for us, we'd have to offer him more than the other teams. He's getting interest in teams without stsrting PGs: Dallas, NY, and Indiana.

We could have him start in games, then come out during the 1st time out maybe 4mins in and take him out for Ben. Then put him back in the lineup to lead the bench.

Indiana has George Hill and probably a tiny anount to spend on FA if they want to bring back their guys or sign a good PF to replace David West.
Dallas is hard to read but I'm not sure how high they really are on Lin, though he should fit nicely in their system imo.
I'm actually secretly rooting for Lin to sign with the Knicks just to see the Melo reaction...

I think Lin is a borderline starter, if he will cost us starter money than no thanks, but if you could get him at the DC contract range (or a little above that) he is a very nice get and I see him not so far behind DC in terms of talent.

I think Lin is probably a better playmaker. He can actually run the PnR. He's also younger. I don't see him getting Collison money. When Collison signed with us, his value was low. He was just seen as a decent backup PG.

exactly the last thing we need is a ball dominate guard in the lineup. Having said that I take monta over the corpse of rondo

I agree with you for the most part, and he has a big enough name for somebody to throw a decent amount of money on him (especially looming the cap sky-rocketing next year), but I think his rep isn't very good right now (just look above me in the comments) and there aren't a lot of teams really looking for this kind of a player, and if someone else fills up this jobs (as you mentioned Dallas, NYK) his market value will drop and you might be able to sign him for small money-short term contract like DC.

Well it's pretty clear our FO wants a new backcourt. Rondo, Bledsoe, Holiday, Monta have all been mentioned as targets. Stuckey and Williams suggest it's not just our starting backcourt either but that we'll probably shop DC and need a new backup PG/bench spark.

A question branching off that is what does that mean for Rudy? Some combinations of the above work with a scoring SF. Others don't. Reading through it all I'd say both DC and Rudy are going to be floated in trade offers.

absolutely NO to Lin
No disrespect to him as he's worked hard to get to where he is today, but he is simply not good...to put it lightly.

Ellis is also a NO. Notwithstanding the fact that he is a chucker, you are bound to have Ellis clash with someone on our team. Plus, only one ball and you have Cousins, Gay AND Ellis to try to dominate it? No thank you.

Everything, that flows out there right now, is a product of agent's imagination.
All Vlade has said at this point was "Getting Darren some help".

Ellis off the bench as a 6th man would be nice. If we have a chucker who chucks at 44% off the bench, I'm ok with that.

A McCallum/Miller, Stauskas, Casspi, Landry, WCS lineup strikes offensive fear into no one.

If we're not going to have much defense off the bench, then we might as well get some offense out of it.

Hahahah
Just looked at Ellis shot attempts last 5 years this clowns lowest average was 15 shots. How that fits in with Gay/DMC is mind blowing to me. Ellis/Rondo should not be here and we shouldn't be interested this really has me scared if we pick one of them.

Rondo wants a 1 year deal, i'd be more than happy to bring him in on that, provided it wasn't too $$$.

Ellis... Unlike a lot of people, I actually like Ellis quite a bit. Not sure he's the right fit, though. B Mac is going to dominate this year, mark my words.

BMac will be better with Rondo.

Ellis woukd be a 6th man. A perfect role for him and us.

For you capologists, would we be able to sign and trade for Rondo with Dallas and then sign Ellis as a FA?

It dosent matter what he does to Bend game the spacing that Rondo and WCS would provide kills the offense.

Didn't Rondo and Ellis just stink it up together last year?
Rondo did and Monta was a beast till he did something to his hip but still played through it like a ironman and a competitor that he is...

If we could get 2 starting level role players for Rudy Gay and sign Monta imo that's the way to go.

Yes they stunk t up to a 50 win season with an aging dirk and chandler. Monta was leading scorer on that team. How would they fair with a prime Cousins and Gay?
You're going to ignore the chemistry issue there? Ok then...
