Monarchs draft Tisha Jr.

Does our new point guard sound like anyone you know? Led her team to one its best years in history, picking up a few Tourney MVP awards during the year, takes team to NCAA final, beating one of Stanford's greatest teams ever along the way, one school's best ever career leader in assists and steals, unselfish(10 pnts a game because she does not shoot enough), one of teams best rebounders despite being under 6ft. She impacts the game every minute she is on the floor.OK, you could have written the same thing about TP as she came out of Old Dominion, but Kristin is not quite in her league. Maybe with the Chinese shooters & Powell, we won't need a PG who wants to take shots. At least this PG can hit Free throws- 83%. She will definitely be fun to watch, and is clearly a proven winner. MSU faced top 3 teams 4 times and beat them each time. She is a big game player and leader. Not bad for a 9th pick.

She's a very solid pick. I thought Temeka Johnson might drop to our spot, but I like Haynie. If Ticha scored 10ppg at this level I'd get off her back forever. Haynie, where I think she'll depart from the Ticha mould, knows more about when to shoot. Maybe she doesn't do it enough-I'll give her a pass on that for now(talk to me if she's still at that mindset at age 30). That might be the biggest underlying criticism I have of Ticha's game - there's a point about being unselfish and willing to give the ball up to others, but when NOBODY else around you is able to put the ball in the basket, use a couple of possessions to put the ball in the hole yourself just to light a fire and keep other teams from running away or ahem, keeping your team from 5 minute long scoring droughts.

I was really happy with the pick. I think Tisha desparately needs a decent back-up and Kristen is more than decent. She can shoot from the perimeter and she drives the lane. If she has a decent view of the court and can pass well then I am very happy with this pick. Michigan State did very well with her, so I am hoping that will translate to the pros.

What does everyone else think?

LOL, MBF we posted at the same time, so I take it you like Kristen as well.

I thought that Kara was the back up. Unless the lineup is:

PF - Walker, Brunson
SF - Powell, Maiga
C - Griffith, Anderson
SG - Lawson, Mendiola
PG - Penechero

That does not include any of the Chinese, Australian or draft picks players that they signed.

Great pick! I'm very pleased. I saw that game aganist Stanford & Haynie was fearless.
Does anyone know anything about our other picks & if they can help us?
Well we can get our 1st look on May 6th vs. the Chinese National team...
Anyone plan on attending? I plan on sitting courtside. Tickets can be purchased at the Community center box office. Hope to see you all there!
