Mobley & Francis

The impetus for dealing Cuttino, at least from what Weisbrod has stated, was to open up shots for the rest of the team and PT for Hido.

One of the perceived problems was that Francis had played so long aside Mobley that he was looking for his running mate almost exclusively at times. The thinking is that with Cat gone, the ball will get moved around more. Considering that Christie will be getting some of his old minutes, I'm sure it will.

What I started thinking though, was that maybe the change in scenery will help Mobley's game for the same reason. Cuttino has often been labeled (I know I've said as much) as a selfish gunner. Maybe now, without Franchise feeding him on every possession, Mobley will adopt a more ball sharing attitude. I haven't really noticed him shooting the ball nearly every time it touches his hands (which was my perception of him before) so who knows? This may be one of those rare circumstances where having two players play together for a long time actually detracted from both guys' games.

The Kings and Magic are both hoping so.

To be fair to Cat the teams he has been on were no where near as flush with shooters as the Kings. When a pass is not likley to lead to an assist passing is not such a sweet option. AND I like the fact that he does not sesitate to take the open shot and better yet the BIG shots.

From what we've heard so far, he seems to appreciate that he's been put into a great position with a first-class franchise. It's a new opportunity for growth and independence. It's also kind of a love-fest/honeymoon right now. Can't wait to see where we are a month or two from now...

francis is the most overrated pg in the nba. the only reason he is good is because he is quick and athletic. for years i have been watchin him all he does is bring the ball down the court try and score by driving and jumping high in the air. either he will turn it over, take a bad shot, or get lucky and find someone for three which is the only way he will get asts. hes a coaches nightmare and opponents dream. He shouldnt be in the allstar game but he will because of retard fans who also vote carter in. cuttino is better off and if he was given the chance to play with bibby over francis i think we all know who he would pick.

He's still shoot if you pass him the ball back. But he isn't rushing as much knowing there are other shooters on the team. He's looking to shoot everytime though...i think it's cool as long as he's not rushing.

On the other hand, Christie isn't looking to shoot unless he's REALLY wide open though or if he feel he's hot. Mobley WILL shoot even if he has some space. This just give the Kings more firepower to play with.

I have no problem with him looking to shoot. If he was jacking up bricks every time he had the ball, then I would have a problem.

I don't remember where, but there was an article saying pretty much what funky was talking about. All I know is that coming to the Kings brings out the best in a lot of players. If it does the same for Cat, we're all winners. And so far? It's looking good!

yeah... cause with him in the line up we can barely beat the clippers.... go team go.... just kidding the clippers are a good team, an athletic team.... which causes problems for the kings...

I know you're also a Clipper fan so I'll just smile and say, "Scoreboard."

Cat Mobley played his first and second games as a King against the Clippers. "Barely beat" still means an L for the loser and a W for the winner.

;) :D

Now Steve Francis thinks hard .... " what if I join Kings"?

did y'all look at his stat line!?!?!? ;)

the cat picked up 4 assists, with the potential for a coupla more off fumbled passes, if i remember. i dont think we're gonna have any problems w/ a "shoot first" attitude. he's a shooter, so he's gonna take the shots he believes he can hit. i aint got a problem with that, cuz he's a good shooter. i like shooters. the kings are full of em. aint nothing wrong with it. as long as the assists are high, and we're getting the shots we want, we'll win games. its a simple formula. sometimes i wonder how or why the kings forget that formula. hopefully things will flow smoother as cuttino gains a better understanding of how to play kings basketball. he's done well so far. just look at the stat line, baby

What? He is overated but still he is good?

So being quick and athletic means overrated?

Would you compare Iverson to Francis? Iverson also "bring the ball down the court try and score by driving and jumping high in the air. either he will turn it over, take a bad shot, or get lucky and find someone for three which is the only way he will get asts. hes a coaches nightmare....."

Can you tell Iverson is overrated? Francis is not overated, he is really a good PG!

francis is overrated as a "pg"; he is turnover-prone, looks for his shot first, has that tendancy to dribble the ball for 20 seconds before taking the shot himself or passing the ball to someone who has take a desparation shot. as the cliche goes, "he is an undersized sg". fortunately for him, though, he can leap really high.

That was when he was in a Rockets uniform, with two or three all-star appearance. And a Rookie of the Year.

But now that he is in a Magic uniform, he is helping the Magic win games and he improved alot, especially his shot first mentality!

Have you seen Magic games this year? Please do, especially that Doug is now in that team with Hedo, Hill, and Dwight... I like their team!

Overrated just means he's generally considered to be better than he actually is, it doesn't mean he's nod good. But there's a difference between being "good" in the sense that you are atheletic, can score, or have good moves for the highlight reel, and being "good" in the sense that you play smart and help your team win.

Francis has been playing pro ball for how many years now (don't feel like looking it up), and he still doesn't seem to know how to handle an NBA point guard position and run a team's offense. If he can't chuck up a quick bad shot he passes it to his boy Cat, failing that he 'doesn't even have a reason to get up in the morning.'

Francis is a 6'3" Antoine Walker.

Oh, and his go-to move when the game is on the line is to dribble down the clock for 20 seconds and take a fadeaway. Wow, how'd ya think of that?

Heh, I hadn't read this when I made my last post, but it looks like we saw the same thing.
