I think for D'Antoni -- apart from the money issue (he'll be 61 and worth $30+ million by the end of this contract -- nice retirement even if it does not work out) -- I think this is more about Donnie Walsh than the current roster. I am sure promises have been made, and he is showing comfidence in the new front office's ability to construct him a reasonable fascimile of a team. Hard to imagine Mike D'Antoni's system working with Zach, Eddie, Marbury (at least old Marbury) etc.
