Mike D'Antoni Accepts Knicks Offer

This is going to be quite a challenge for D'Antoni...this is a tough set of players to manage and coach.

He'll have some success if management allows him to play the players he wants and not those based on contract size. The Knicks do have a nice set of young players with upside, and that's where I believe D'Antoni will have some success. It's the vets that will be a problem...

Wish the guy the best luck, but I'm not expecting much of an improvement in the team's W-L record...

I think for D'Antoni -- apart from the money issue (he'll be 61 and worth $30+ million by the end of this contract -- nice retirement even if it does not work out) -- I think this is more about Donnie Walsh than the current roster. I am sure promises have been made, and he is showing comfidence in the new front office's ability to construct him a reasonable fascimile of a team. Hard to imagine Mike D'Antoni's system working with Zach, Eddie, Marbury (at least old Marbury) etc.
