If Vivek pulled the trigger so what. Brown, Monte, Fox one had to never be a King again after last night. Brown was the easy fire and might be the hardest to replace. But also screwing up the other two would be even worse.

Something had to be done? This was idiotic. The Kings are 3-11 in games decided by 5 pts or less, Keegan Murray and Kevin Huerter are shooting 30% from 3. They are 13-18 and can easily be 18-13. This destroys the organizations reputation and demonstrates chaos. I don’t understand the logic or how you can justify this.

Oh….I don’t even mean that. Any owner in the NBA would have final say on the firing of a coach, mid season, after just giving him 30M extension. Just because he pulled the trigger does not mean he was meddling or pulling an “NBA is jazz music, 4 on 5 defensive strategy” level Vivek craziness of the past. But, until I hear something truly bizarre about how this was all Vivek’s master plan to name himself head coach next year, I’m not prepared to blast him. In my mind this is step one of a multistep process to remake this team my the start of next season.

There are a million things wrong with this team right now. Yes, I believe something had to be done. No disrespect intended, but I’m not sure you are watching the same games I’ve watched over the past month. I’ve already started to check out on this season as this team has broken me… but thats just one fan’s perspective.

He literally might as well name himself the head coach. He has proven he is the decision maker.

The team finally had stability, and they throw it out the window. So please explain what changes with Mike Brown out and Doug Christie in?
Something absolutely had to be done. I'm not saying firing Brown was my favorite choice but his star player has tuned him out.
Your other options are firing the GM or shipping the star. Both of those could still happen. But I don't see how anything gets better. Losing 10 games you could/should have won 30 games into a season is 100% cause for alarm.
That doesn't even take into account games we got blown out in that should have been close on paper.
It allows us to determine whether we keep or trade Fox by taking the coach he has clearly tuned out out of the equation.
did the star player tune him out? That sounds like an assumption. Those close to the team have expressed different. Sean Cunningham said he saw them hugging after the game last night. What evidence do we have Fox tuned him out?

Well that he left his man wide open for a 3 pointer in the penultimate play when coach said no 3s for start... and I guess the fact that Brown has been begging Fox to play 4 quarters publicly for months now?
Are YOU serious? What expectations did you have with this roster? Yes if Kevin Huerter and Keegan Murray were shooting their careeer averages that absolutely changes their record this season.

He's been going to sleep for quarters at a time. Brown has taken to begging him to be the player he is capable of in media sessions. That is not the sign of a coach and a player in tandem. One had to go. I'm honestly not sure the right one went.
Sounds like a coach trying to get more out of his star player and the player not delivering.

I was expecting them to compete for the 5 through 8 seeds in the west. Play a fun brand of basketball, but with a little more maturity. I expected that they wouldn’t have the same continual brain farts as last year. Weren’t blowing big leads. Were shooting better as a team. Started games with intensity. Dominated on the home floor in front of rabid fans (or at least have a winning record at home). The inability to win close games at an historic rate is a new one, so that kinda sucks.
Are all of these things Mike Brown’s fault? Nope. I never said they were. But it’s pretty brutal watching this team right now. It is a terribly unbalanced roster, but at the same time the top 5 are very talented so I had expectations that they could clean things up and be better than last year. There is a lot of blame to go around.
Let me ask you, what expectations did you have for this season?
Typically the coach takes the fall in that scenario. I have not said I think it was the right call. But it is the standard call, and frankly overdue as the season is lost.

What exactly would you have done. It seems that your stance/answer here is "nothing" and that our record is a statistical anomaly. Is that incorrect?
So make assumptions with no facts is your stance? I would’ve retooled and traded Fox for young pieces/picks before firing Mike Brown.
I'm going by all your other posts saying nothing urgent was warranted, that Fox just made a single mistake not tuned out the coach, that a few ball bounces would have this team 10 games over .500.
I think moving Fox is probably the move that ultimately needs to be made but the organization is making the bet that it will be easier to get the next coach correct than replace Fox.
I am not sure I agree but I have also seen Fox go supernova and understand why everyone is reluctant to give it up.

I can only speak for myself….this team has lost me. Last year was frustrating and irritating. This year just plain sucks. I just can’t keep watching the same dumb plays game after game. The same rotations I disagree with. The same defensive strategy that sucks.
Maybe you’ve misunderstood my position. I do not think firing Brown and replacing with Christie saves the season. I’m ready for Fox (and maybe more) to be traded and to start with either a full rebuild or a roster reconstruction on the fly. Maybe Monte pulls a rabbit out of his hat at the trade deadline but otherwise I suspect he’s probably gone also.

im not misunderstanding anything. The team already had a flawed roster, and with bad luck we are 5 games under .500. That’s the reality. That doesn’t warrant a knee jerk reaction to fire the head coach. We are all frustrated, Vivek made a rash decision that does not help the team and hurts the organization as a whole.

Ok…then we simply disagree. You say we’ve had bad luck in those close losses, I see many blunders, questionable coaching decisions and epic meltdowns. There is no ‘right‘ decision here. I feel a change with brown was warranted and you do not.
