I thought of another media persona. Tim Roye, who did Kings talk on KHTK and also did the post game show from the skylight lounge.

What happened to Fat Lever? Suddenly gone with no PR or info. He was a big help to SoCal KingsFans at the Clipper games and a friend to us all.

I think the most important media page should be devoted to Katy Christenson. Of course I have no bias on this subject. She looked pretty good at summer league though.

Leaving tomorrow morning for points unkown. Won't make to Cabo, but maybe to La Paz and Todo Santos. Looking forward to judging many cocktail De Camaron's. Acompanied by a few cervesa's.

Jim Gray
Position: Courtside Reporter
Years Covering Kings: 2010-2013

A veteran nationally known and sometimes controversial sideline reporter, Gray's career had seemingly been slumping when he was suddenly tapped by the Maloofs to replace the popular Kayte Christensen during the summer of 2010. Despite the Maloofs' claims that the move had been made because Gray's fame would add national prominence to the Kings, suspicions arose about the hiring when combined with the simultaneous hiring as a part time color commentator of the similarly Los Angeles based Bill Walton, who also had no previous connection with the Kings. The moves were widely suspected of being made as part of the Maloofs' preparations to move the team to Anaheim.

Gray left the Kings when the Gray/Christensen swap was reversed by new owner Vivek Ranadive in the summer of 2013.

Career Before Kings
A sports reporter with 30 years of experience beginning in the early 1980s, Gray had won 11 Emmy's while covering 8 Olympics, 24 Super Bowls and hundreds of boxing matches in addition to his extensive NBA resume, which included 18 NBA Finals. Some of his more famous interviews included an interview with Pete Rose in 1999 in which he denied his gambling, an interview with Mike Tyson in which he said he wanted to eat Lennox Lewis's children, and repeated interviews with disgraced Giants slugger Barry Bonds. His muckraking gotcha lines of questioning however earned him an unpleasant reputation, and questions about his journalistic integrity were raised by his friendship with Kobe Bryant during his sexual assault case and feud with Shaquille O'Neal. In July of 2010, shortly after being hired by the Kings, Gray attracted further controversy by being the reporter who aided LeBron James with his ill fated half hour "The Decision" show.

Career After Kings
Gray has continued to work with Showtime boxing and the Fox Network since being fired by the Kings.

Angela Tsai
Position: Courtside Reporter
Years Covering Kings: 2006-08

Angela Tsai was hired by Maloof Sports & Entertainment to be the Kings courtside reporter for the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons. With limited previous basketball experience (her most relevant experience perhaps being her stint as captain of the Duke University cheerleading squad in the late 90s) she often appeared overwhelmed and unable to describe the nuances of the game, leading to her increasing use in her second season as a fluff reporter rather than sideline analyst. She was let go after the 07-08 season.

Career Before Kings
Angela was hired by the Kings after 4 years hosting a dating show called "Dating on Demand" on Comcast, and working for the Asian-American oriented AZN Television network.

Career After Kings
After being fired by the Kings, Angela worked as a host for the MSG Varsity Network for one year, then left TV, working as a trade show presenter and launching a small children's accessory business.

Roye-Tim.jpg

Tim Roye:
Position: Pregame, Halftime, and Postgame Host
Years Covering Kings: 1989-1995 (6 years)

Tim Roye may have been the most popular radio Kings post game host of all time. He had an almost cult following in the Skylight Lounge. Not only was he a very good radio personality, combining knowledge and charm, he had the ability to light up a room with his smile and great sense of humor. While Roye was good at what he did, his dream was to be a play by play announcer for an NBA team, and although he did the Kings play by play for 45 games in the 1994-95 season, he couldn't pass up the offer from the Warriors to be their regular announcer. Roye also hosted a daily three hour sports talk show on KHTK, as well as host a two hour weekly Kings Talk show. He was also the Sports Director at KHTK from 1989 to 1994. He also served as the radio and television announcer for the Sacramento Gold Miners of the Canadian Football League.

Career Before the Kings:
Upon graduation from Utica College in New York, Roye spent eight years (1978-1986) as the sports director at Utica's WIBX-WNYZ radio. He later moved to Birmingham Alabama where he was the sports director at WVOK radio from 1986-87. He spent two year in Phoenix (1987-1989) serving as the talk show host for KTAR radio. He also served as a color analyst for Arizona St. University's basketball network.

Career After Kings:
Roye left Sacramento to become the play by play radio broadcaster for the Golden State Warriors. He in entering his 14th season with the Warriors on KNBR. He also hosts a weekly one hour program on KNBR, "Warrior Weekly Roundtable". While with the Warriors he has coined the phrase, "Elevation Sensation". And at one time referred to player Mickael Pietrus while dunking the ball, as "Air France".

220px-Grant_Napear.JPG

Grant Napear:
Born: June 18th, 1959
Position: Current Television play by play announcer.
Yr's With the Kings: 1988 to Present.

Napear is entering his 26th season as an announcer for the Kings in some capacity in either radio or television. To many he's a very polarizing figure. He brings an east coast flavor to his daily sports talk show (3pm-7pm monday thru friday on KHTK). You either love him, or hate him, and apparently most love, or at minimum, like him, since he has the highest rated sports talk show in the area. Many perhaps, love him to hate him. Ironically, many who dislike Napear on his daily talk show, have no problem with his play by play for the Kings. And that perhaps speaks to Napear's professionalism, as he is very highly regarded by his peers. He also fills in for Jim Rome on his nationally broadcasted show. From 2003 to the present Napear has been the preseason play by play announcer for the Oakland Raiders. He's also been the play by play announcer for the San Jose Sabercats since 2000, and he occasionally fills in as the announcer for the San Jose Sharks. From 1992 to 1994 he was the play by play man for the Sacramento Gold Miners. From 1987 to 1995 he was the sports director for KRBK television (now KMAX) channel 31.

Career Before the Kings:

After graduating from Syosset Highschool in Syosset New York, he pursued a degree in broadcast journalism from Bowling Green University, where he also played Lacrosse. He started his career as the play by play announcer for the football, basketball, and hockey teams for Bowling Green University from 1997 to 1981. From 1977 to 1989 he was the weekend sports anchor at WAND radio in Decatur Illinois.

Activities:
Napear is on the board of The Future Foundation of Sacramento, a foundation that provides scholarships for disadvantaged youth. He hosts a golf tournament every year for the foundation, and has every year since 1995. He currently resides in Eldorado Hills with his wife, Starr, and his two sons, Trent and Chase.

Jerry Reynolds:
Born: January 29th, 1944
Position: Assistant Coach, Kings Head Coach, Kings Director of Player Personnel, Kings GM, Monarch's GM, and Kings Television color analyst.
Yr's With Kings: 1985 to present time.

Jerry Reynolds is currently tied with Gary Gerould as the longest tenured person connected to the Kings. Both arriving with the Kings in 1985. In Reynolds 28 years (He's entering his 29th year) with the Kings he's worn many hats. From assistant coach, to color analyst on their television broadcasts. In between those two jobs, he was also head coach, director of player personnel, and general manager of the Kings, and the Monarch's. He's best known for his folksy demeanor, and, he's recognized as the second most famous person from French Lick Indiana. Larry Bird being the first. While he can come across as a country bumkin, don't be fooled, he's actually quite knowledgeable, and once wrote a book of memories about his basketball encounters, "Reynolds Remembers Tales About the Sacramento Kings". He's best remembered by many for collapsing during a game while head coach. It was thought at the time that he had a heart attack, but it turned out to be stress related. He became the interim head coach of the Kings in 1987 replacing Phil Johnson. A year later he took over for Bill Russell 24 games into the season and coached for two seasons. He also served as the General Manager of the Kings from may of 1992 to December of 1993. He served as director of player personnel from 1994 to 2013. He was also the General Manager of the Monarchs from 1998 to 2004.

Career Before the Kings:
Reynolds is a graduate of Vincennes University, and West Georgia City College (Indiana). He had a successful college coaching career. He was part of the staff at Vincennes University when they won the 1970 NJCAA national title. He was also on the staff at West Georgia City College when the Braves won the 1974 NAIA men's division one basketball tournament. In 1975 he became the head coach of Rockhurst University. He joined the Kansas Kings in 1984. Reynolds currently lives in Roseville California with his wife Dodie who he married in 1968

Jason Ross:

Jason has been directly or indirectly involved with the Sacramento Kings in some fashion since 1994. He started his career at KHTK behind the scenes producing shows for Grant Napear and others. From those beginnings, he moved to occasionally filling in when needed. Today he serves as the Sports Director at KHTK, and is the pre-game, halftime, and post-game host for the Sacramento Kings Radio Network. He's also the fill in radio, play by play voice, of the Sacramento Kings, and for seven years filled in as the play by play voice of the Monarchs. Once a week Jason hosts a two hour Kings talk show on KHTK radio, along with hosting a three hour daily (Monday-Friday 12:00pm -3:00pm) sports talk show, a time slot once held by Don Geronimo.

Kayte Christensen:
Position: Courtside Announcer.
Born: November 16th, 1980 - In Lakeview, Oregon
Yr's With the Kings: 2007 - 2010 (2 years, 7 months), and 2013 - present.

Kayte grew up on a cattle ranch in the northeast corner of california. A little town named Likely in Modoc county. She first came to the Kings in 2007 as a color analyst on House Party Live, the Kings pre-game, halftime, and post game television show. She also worked as a sideline reporter for one season and left after the 2010 season. She proved to be not only knowledgeable, but charming and charismatic. One could argue that she was the unintended star of the House Party show. Kayte had that fresh all american look, and the personality to go with it. Her departure was met with disappointment by her loyal followers. However, she returned for the 2013-2014 season as the sideline reporter, and is reported to be a part of pre-game, halftime, and post game show next season.

Career Before the Kings:

After a successful highschool basketball and volleyball career, Kayte went to the University of California at Santa Barbara, where she discovered she might have a career in basketball. She was named the Big West player of the year in 2002. She was also named, UCSB female scholar athlete of the year that same year. She was twice named an Academic All-American (2001 & 2002). Kayte graduated with a degree in Classical Civilizations. In the 2002 WNBA draft, Kayte was drafted 40th overall by the Phoenix Mercury. Her WNBA career lasted five years, and during that period she also played for the Houston Comets, and the Chicago Sky as well as the Phoenix Mercury. She retired in 2008 due to a recurring back injury.

Other Activities:
Aside from her work for the Kings, she also worked for the the Phoenix Sun's in their social media dept. Additionally she worked as a color analyst for ESPN for two years and 6 months (2009 - 2012) covering the WNBA and women's college basketball. While with the Kings, she wrote for Kings.com, and was a part of the weekly Kings talk radio show.
