McNair gone

Eli Witus needs to be interviewed for the job. He signed an extension last year so I’m not sure how that works but he is an assistant GM.

This post got me more riled up than anything else tonight.... Well, other than having to watch LaVine play some crap ass bball knowing it's near impossible to trade him
I wanna give the guy a break and full training camp with some of this roster before just writing him off

So after the Detroit game I did say fire everyone and trade Fox.

I'm sorry. I don't think this is the answer.

Pretty sure any small chance we had of keeping Jake is out the window. Organization is now in complete disarray.

If it is "mutual" I assume it is because Monte sees the writing that a full reboot is inevitable while Vivek is now Maloofs coming of Musselman's year, "The problem isn't the roster it's the (X)!"

Anyways he can ace the next hire or he can completely blow it. Not exactly full of hope.

Scott Perry has made 11 picks as the GM of the Knicks. He’s had some hits: Grimes, Quickley, McBride (All smaller guards haha) Obi Toppin, Mitchell Robinson, RJ Barrett and Jericho Sims are other names the rest are fringe or out of the league. In Orlando the known names are Aaron Gordon, Oladipo, Mario Hezonja and Elfrid Payton. It’s an ok track record. Not great but not terrible. He is 61 years old. I would consider him a downgrade as a talent evaluator. After looking at Booths transaction history I would probably take him over Scott but only if he got to pick the coach. I’d rather look elsewhere personally.

“McNair didn’t want to fire Brown, league sources said, and there are internal questions about whether he really wanted to sign DeRozan or trade for LaVine. Tension also existed in recent days between McNair and the ownership group about Christie’s future with Ranadive viewed as the Christie backer.

Appearing to lose decision-making power within the franchise, McNair agreed to the departure. League sources say McNair, who spent 13 years in Houston before joining the Kings, could return to the Rockets in a front office role with general manager, and close friend and former co-worker, Rafael Stone.”

Do Kings fans need to hold a protest both in person and virtually voicing their displeasure over the GM not being alllowed to do his job? I’m 3/4 serious about this. If fans are going to spend their hard earned money and their valuable time on this team, are we not owed competency? And I’m not talking wins and losses here, I’m talking a functional franchise. He needs to hear this, directly from fans, in a major way or we are heading down a crap path. A Jerry Jones path. Only worse because we are a small market and don’t have the cachet of the STAR.

I think this was a mistake, particularly given our history, and reports of not only interference by Vivek, but also Anjali and Lamb. Tough to say what was actually going on. Folks will always find something to complain about, but the only few decent seasons we had in almost 2 decades were all under him. He also hasn't left the cupboard bare, and unless there is discontent among players and demands to be traded, we should at least be competitive. All bets are off though. Things could go South pretty fast, particularly if Domas demands a trade.

Also from the same Athletic article:
“McNair addressed Kings players in the locker room not long after their elimination on Wednesday night, league sources said, speaking with a bigger-picture view about the future. The players were informed not long after that he was no longer leading the franchise’s front office.”

Vivek running the Kings like a lala company smh.

So reading between the lines, Monte planned on being the GM next year, talked to Vivek about opening up the coaching search and interviewing other people and Ranadive said “na, Doug’s the guy. That’s the final straw for Monte so he decides he’s done and as it turns out Vivek feels the same way.

Guy who got a bajillion picks, Ingram, Josh hart, and Lonzo for AD and turned it into nothing whilst also being gifted the number one overall pick, David Griffin?!
The Pelicans looked really, really good whenever they were healthy. The problem is they just could never stay healthy. Hard to put that on the GM. You could say he built around injury-prone players, but he HAD to try to make it work with Zion.

nah not even then. Vivek was a big part of the reason we didn’t make the Barnes trade to Boston. Vivek wouldn’t even take a millimeter step back.

who knows slim chance we get a GM who can reign him in but with Monte it was no chance.

can you remind me, what was on the table for barnes?

Monte confirming the worst within hours of the season ending signals things are probably very very bad. Normally months go by with little drip drips. This kind of thing says things went to crap behind the scenes and he has no respect for the org or desire to help them save face

If Monte was that far off of giving Doug a chance then that's interesting. Doug turned his chicken **** into as close to chicken salad as a coach can.
