McNair adds front office staff

Reading up on these guys, the only one I knew was Wilcox, but these all seem really solid. Most are scouting, and Wilcox has some baggage but as the not-face-of-the-FO guy is a real score. These look to be very un-KANGZ! moves.

Just a hunch, but it feels like there is about to be a lot of player movement on this Kings team. It's been a long time since they've had a serious front office.

I don't know who these guys are. But at least it looks as if we are building a proper staff not hiring friends and family. A good sign.

Color me happy with these moves so far! I’m excited to see what type of front office they will be in terms of things being kept under wraps vs constant leaks to the media (PDA era) and whether or not we’ll be a lot more active.
I have a feeling this front office certainly won’t be accused of sitting on their hands this upcoming offseason and beyond, that’s for sure.

Holy s---! That looks like a real front office!
Same for me in regards to who these guys are.....but if you are saying the others are scouting related type moves then that is great news.....now they just have to not suck

My brief googling of these guys tells me they have been around the NBA. Communication with other teams should greatly benefit.
It will be interesting to follow this new Kings front office. This is a lot of years of NBA knowledge and experience added:

I’d be curious to see what players They were responsible for in getting them into the organization......probably hard to find anything on this other than seeing who the teams picked and or signed I guess.
I don't know enough about any of these guys (including McNair) to have any real insight into how good they are at their job or speculation on how successful they'll be in Sacramento.
But what these hires DO show me is that McNair has a much more significant network among league executives than Vlade or PDA did. He quickly identified who he wanted across organizations and moved swiftly to build his team.
So while it remains to be seen if this group will succeed where every other Sacramento front office other than Petrie's have failed, it's very encouraging to see what appears to be a very qualified group being assembled.

Wilcox began his NBA career as a scouting and video intern for the Miami Heat in the 2001-02 season. The now-New Orleans Pelicans hired Wilcox as a full-time video coordinator the following season. The following season saw the Cleveland Cavaliers hire Wilcox as an advanced scout. Wilcox held five different roles in six seasons with Cleveland. He started as an Advanced Scout and became a College Scout the next season (2004-05). The next year, he became a Pro Personnel Scout (2005-06).
In 2012, the Atlanta Hawks hired Wilcox to be an Assistant GM, where he stayed in that role until 2015. That year, he was promoted to GM of Atlanta and held that role until 2017. Wilcox resigned after saying a racially insensitive comment; he's been Atlanta's Special Advisor since resigning.

I really did not like him as our #1 because of this, but I'm pretty excited about having him as the #2. Actually if I knew that was an option I'd have been more enthused than I was about a Gupta/McNair two headed monster.
Anyway you slice it though, they are going after real FO vets who seem like they are heavy on the talent evaluation side and they are keeping Catanella who appears to have been the cap guru - love or hate Vlade's moves, he always seemed to get the players to sign contracts that were favorable to the team at the end of their terms.

The question now is did he? Or did Dumars/Vivek? Is there a history with his new Asst. GM? You know, the same Wes Wilcox that was vying for the very same position his new boss McNair got? It sucks because the past meddling that took a bit of a hiatus could be rearing it's ugly head again. Hopefully not and if it is I hope he at least takes a more hands on approach this time.

Wilcox strikes me as someone that just has a bit of a wicked sense of humor. He did some analyst stuff and he seems like a light hearted sarcastic kind of person.
I hear ya, but it upset enough players he was forced out. People have short memories these days so maybe that time has passed, but I wouldn't want him to be the lead guy at the negotiating table either.
They were over .500 every year he was there as an assistant and the GM. Though they did start to fall off at the end of his tenure. But Horford left and I think that had more to do with it.
Salmons was waived shortly after the trade (June/July timeline) so it was a salary move. Ferry was GM at this time and did not begin his leave of absence until September of 2014. Notable that this 2014-2015 season was the Hawks best regular season in franchise history.

We have a real front office for the first time, maybe, ever? No idea how good these guys are, but the glowing reviews from NBA people seem to be a good sign because I don’t think we’ve ever gotten that before.

The Kings either lucked out by poaching Morey's heir apparent from Houston before he left the building or screwed themselves by making a GM hire before the surefire best candidate became available (if you were of the opinion that the Kings had a chance at hiring him).
Regardless, I feel much better about this team's direction than I did immediately post-bubble implosion.
