Max Max and Dylan Cardwell, Fury Road

Gotta say, I love what we will be bringing into next season... Doug's defense-focus and tough mindset are freakin radiating from our young guys, and they are coming together nicely. Gotta resign Precious.

On the version of earth where the Kings "tanked properly," there are five players that Kings Fans should want to be doing what Raynaud and Cardwell did last night, but the Kings failing at "tanking properly" is not a good enough reason to not root for their success. Anyone salty about the kids playing well is a miserable so-and-so.

Cardwell looked to be back to Cardwell again after his injury. He's looked bad in pretty much every game since he came back but this game was a throwback to his old self before the injury.

Any other year, an undrafted rookie destroying a game-tying Zion poster attempt at the rim with 16 seconds left in the game would be cause to celebrate but this season people are acting like the kids ran over a dog.

Hell, they're acting like the kids ran over their dog!

We were never as bad as our record indicated, it sucks that we can't guarantee ourselves a top 5 pick but whatever happens happens. Aside from the Pacers the teams in front of us are bad for reasons beyond why we are bad. The only thing I'll be mad about is if play-in teams sneak into the top picks over us.

I actually might trust Perry more at 6 or 7 than I trust past GMs with a top two pick.

That sure was an impressive sequence of blocks at the end for Cardwell. I’ll be very curious how we work Sabonis into the mix next year since Max, Dylan, and Precious, who I suspect will be resigning, seem to have it covered.

Good question as to how it will work, but Domantas Sabonis led the NBA in rebounding for three straight seasons up until 2025-26. None of those other three guys is anywhere near at that level. The 13.9 he pulled in last season would, in fact, once again be the best in the league, had he been able to replicate it. The highest this season is Jokic, with 12.9.

Sabonis also led the entire NBA in double-doubles last season, for the third straight year. He was so automatic, it was hard for us fans to really appreciate how special a player he is.

Assuming we hold on to Sabonis, the question is not how we work Sabonis in, it's how we work the other guys around Sabonis.

I answered this a month ago: Sabonis and Cardwell start, Raynaud and Achiuwa come off the bench. Why? Because Cardwell's defense offsets any defensive concerns with respect to Sabonis. They would make a fantastic rebounding duo. And we already know that Reynaud and Achiuwa play great together.

Assuming that’s how it plays out and we have Murray, for now Hunter, DeMar at SF, it points to biggest need a PG.
That’s where we’re likely picking, in the PG pack and management must know it. This team really isn’t far off from being decent, and these extra wins in the end are important for the youngsters. Regardless, still a head scratcher.

Only works if Sabonis significantly improves his 3 point shot. Otherwise you have teams packing the lane.
