And I gotta say - I never saw the on court chemistry between Fox and Bagley that I thought would be automatic. Fox - who seems cool af - always seems to look at Bagley like he doesn’t understand what dude is thinking.
It's hard to judge how Bagley would play through injuries. The Kings were overly cautious his first 2 years. There were times both seasons that Bagley wanted to play and the team wouldn't let him. Vlade even made the comments that they wouldn't treating him with kid gloves with regards to injuries his next season (of course, Vlade was no longer there when the season started).
Not to defend Bagley for what he has said recently, but we know he has been working out with a group in Miami that does this for players every off season. One thing every coach has said about Bagley is that he is a hard worker. My point being, just because he has been saying stupid things this off season doesn't mean he isn't working on his game.
Young Bagley is staying in school?
right but if he were really serious about getting better he would be working out with the Kings staff and working on team defensive concepts. But he is not.
Ugh hate that you're making me defend Bagley but c'mon, this is straight up garbage. Players work out with their own trainers ALL THE TIME.
yes they do but his issues are playing team defense

It’s just passive aggressive gibberish. Only thing I can decipher is that it’s his right to say or do whatever he like on social media. Not sure if he thinks it’s some alternative reality with no real world impact, but whatever.i honestly can't even comprehend what Bagley is trying to say there.
Exhibit Aright but if he were really serious about getting better he would be working out with the Kings staff and working on team defensive concepts. But he is not.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but is this not shades of WCS during his final years with the Kings?I remember Bags saying that he was going for MVP before his rookie year.
That kind of delusional thinking would actually be pretty endearing if he could stay on the court and was less toxic off court.
Now he’s talking about how he wants to drop 50 points in the playoffs, and implying that he’s being held back by playing in Sac?
Ok dude.
Some kids do AAU as a traveling all-star team, Marvin did the dad coaches the star who is the sole spotlight of the team model. Should have been a huge red flag.Every kid these days goes through the AAU process. This is not Marvin's issue.
Him rehabbing away from the team was the first legimate red flag for me. The fact thatit was mutual makes me wonder if the team let him know they were looking at trades and this might make it easier, but that is pure speculation on my part.If we kept him out when he wanted to play I guess I missed that. I only remember this last injury where he opted to rehab on his own, which seemed alarming.
The Kings' front office were holding him out. They were being overy cautious because they needed him to succeed. I remember twice in interviews (I believe one each year) when Bagley stated he thought he was ready to play, but hadn't been given the ok yet.It wasn’t the Kings who were that cautious it was team Bagley.
Oddly enough I recently listened to an old podcast (Road Tripping) where the interviewed Holmes (during the season). At one point they asked him about the (at the time) recent back and forth between Fox's Dad and Bagley's Dad on twitter. Holmes said they all just laughed about. He made it clear that the players didn't pay any attention to it.Fox is aloof and Bagley is introverted. I can see them not having any type of relationship, but at the same time not having negative feelings about the other.

I love Holmes, but not for any more than $10-$11M/season.Minus cap holds (only the one for the #9 pick really needs to stay in place) the Kings are under the $112 M cap already and dealing Marvin (and his $11 M salary) for a mid first rounder would open up another $8+ M.
I believe under the Early Bird terms the Kings can offer Holmes up to $11 M per year but they could open up additional salary if needed. The question is how much is Holmes really worth?
Fox doesn’t come across as aloof. Bagley comes across as disingenuous.Fox is aloof and Bagley is introverted. I can see them not having any type of relationship, but at the same time not having negative feelings about the other.
That’s what players do who are serious about elevating their games. Bagley thinks it should just be handed to him.
I didn't say he faked it. Clearly he was blessed with phenomenal genes and even undeveloped he got to the level he did. Nor have I suggested listening to Kings fans can fix him. But WE didn't instill his entitled attitude that was given to him by his beloved Coach Bagley. And it was clear from his time at Duke that even Coach K wasn't getting to him on the defensive end.I mean...you can’t fake your way to being the #1 high school player and then 1st team All American college then 1st team All NBA Rookie team. Regardless of where his pro career goes, the kid is not a fraud.
The only time he hasn't had success is with the Sacramento Kings with two coaches who notoriously don't do well with young talent, a GM who was in over his head and an organization that has been hot garbage for 15 years. But yeah, Marvin needs lessons from Kings fans on how to be successful.
Here's a Bee article on the same podcast with a bit more extensive quoting: https://www.sacbee.com/sports/nba/sacramento-kings/article252620283.html
The kicker quote for me:
Yes, Marv. Yes, we do.
Also this may not be fair but my perception is that Luka and Trae, MAYBE even Ayton would play through some of the injuries Bagley has sustained. Until he proves otherwise, he is soft.
Every kid these days goes through the AAU process. This is not Marvin's issue.
Marvin is going through a maturation process in the spotlight of NBA fans. How he responds or reacts to his situation is a factor of many things. All accounts of people that have had interactions with him say that he is respectful, hard working and a good kid. He's very close with his family and by all accounts, his upbringing has got him pretty darn far.
He enters this environment where the fans say he doesn't work hard, is a malcontent, he's a bust, trade him for a bag of chips, etc. Common sense tells you that Marvin is going to lean more towards the people who got him here and not the ones trying to tear him down.
With the negativity thrown around, at some point a person is going to go into self preservation mode. For all the folks saying he is putting the blame on other people and not taking responsibility for his actions, are fans taking responsibility for theirs? He literally said in that interview that he needs to take control of his situation to achieve his goals.
Marvin is supposed to not listen to the negativity from fans, media and social media. He's not supposed to listen to his father or uncle or any family. But he's supposed to care what people say on social media about what he does. He should praise the fans and city and denounce his family. He's supposed to take the advice of the media, fans, etc who all claim to know who he is, what he's thinking and how he goes about his day.
It really is time for him to move on, because there is absolutely nothing he would be able to do to make this city happy. Personally, I think he realized that at seasons end and really couldn't care less about what the fans say anymore.
