Marcus Thorton forgotten?

Entity

Hall of Famer
Is it just me or is the national media forgetting about Thorton. To me Thorton was the better player between him and Evans last year at the end of the season. I know Evans was oft injured and just coming back from the plantar electro threapy. But its like all of a sudden its going to be Jimmer and Evans in the backcourt. Is Marcus deligated to the bench now? either way i like the 3 player roation we have have the 1 and 2. I am assuming garcia now gets that 4th guard label while Greene and Casspi battle yet again on who backsup the SF spot.

It's the day after the draft. Of course all the attention will go to Jimmer. He'll get a ton of it throughout the year because of his marketability. I doubt that the coaching staff has forgotten how well the Evans/Thornton pairing has worked, but then again...

Jimmer will start off the bench. If his play deserves more attention/minutes, then that is a good thing.

If Marcus Thornton is resigned (likely) he'll be starter with Evans in Kings backcourt for sure. Jon Barry for one of "national media" mentioned Thornton several times following the recent draft and potential for Kings to be an even higher scoring team plus adding Salmons. Jimmer will come off the bench in a role probably similar to when Beno was key lead guard reserve. Cisco can play SF or SG so he'll be a primary backup as well. Frontcourt players Casspi and Greene seem to be further down depth chart at this point - as well as new draftee Honeycutt. Rookie PG Isiah Thomas might be replacing Pooh Jeter but still only get limited minutes. In some small ball matchups maybe Reke, Thornton and Jimmer will all be on court at the same time.

Forgotten by who? The media? Who cares. He isnt forgotten about by the people making decisions. The addition of jimmer wont affect him. He doesnt
have to compete w beno for time.

Let Jimmer have his day in the sun before returns to being the gym rat and his sunburn turns milky white again.

Sometime down the line if Jimmer proves that he can be a good setup man along with his shooting ability, then I could see Jimmer taking over as a starting PG and moving Thornton to 6th man status. I don't see it happening this year though. If it does happen down the line, Thornton could still play close to 30 minutes per game and be more of a scorer, which he is more natural at.

His name certainly wasn't forgotten about by Paul Westphal in his press meeting after the draft. He mentioned him quite a bit in relation to how the team could work, specifically Evans, Thornton, and Salmons.
