Marcus Thornton waived

We have 15 players so we would have to waive one, I presume. Not sure if I like the idea. Do we go for whatever goal we think we would attain with Martin or Thornton (probably not the playoffs) or do we keep, for instance, Moreland? As we are going nowhere this year, why give away youth for age?

Since Moreland is out for the entire season and will be a FA after this season, what benefit do we get from keeping him on the roster? Might as well have a playable body, right?

You don't get it. Why take on a veteran? What's the end goal other than just getting older? Will we make the playoffs with either Martin or Thornton? If not, they are a waste of bench space as they have nothing to do with our future.

Curious if you had an expiring contract on whether people would prefer Thornton or Marco right now.

Thornton no doubt about it. At least with MT you know that coming hard off picks and shooting tough shots is his game. I doubt Marco B will ever become productive in this system GK is using. Defensively I might even give a very, very small edge to Thornton.

Between K-Martin and Thornton, we have to be able to get one of them.

Martin is being courted by several playoff teams, as he should be. Thornton? The same Thornton who plays even less defense than Martin? No thanks.

As another poster mentioned, with Thornton, you know what you are getting: instant offense, bad defense. For what Karl had tried to do with Marco this season, Thornton could do. I'd sign either Martin or Thornton to fill that Marco void.

I was asking a simple question, not sure why you lead with the aggressive comment. I do get it, I'm just genuinely curious as to why you want to hold onto Moreland including the fact that he's not exactly "young" either. Clearly the team is still trying to win games whether playoffs are in or out of sight. But how is Moreland even relevant in... well, anything? He's injured AND a free agent. You think rehab is akin to developing him?

bring him back if martin goes.

he has been the best streak shooter we had in 10 years.

those memories will fuel success and he'll be much better then what we have. 20 mins a game - starting - playing for another contract - he'll light it up

If it's between him and Martin, I'd rather get the BAYOU bomber... he's only 28. He'll give you the exact same thing as Belinelli, but more pouting. Hell yea

Market it as such and get him in.

Hell he did it once here he can do it again.

This is his happy place

Still think I prefer Kevin -- I assume everybody remembers how Thornton was playing for us last time we saw him. Memories have only grown fonder because of the utter dreck we have been subjected to since.

The Kings HAVE to pick up some SG from the waiver wire.
There is zero alternative - there's an open roster spot (effectively), and they HAVE to bring in other people to try out and see how this offense can run with capable shooters.

If they whiff on this opportunity, they are wasting precious chances to figure out a combination of players/skills that work.

Talk about a little risk, large reward scenario!

I still think Collison and Curry can play with Rondo in the 2 role against most teams. We need a bigger 2 that can play defense against big guys like Klay Thompson for sure.
The Kings speciality for years has been shooting guards that can't shoot.
