Marcus Camby

with the denver nuggets unable to trade Kenyon Martins huge contract to anyone and a resigned Nene at 10mil/year and no spot for him to start.... denver may be open to a trade of marcus camby...

if the reports about denver being very interested in bonzi wells, maybe petrie can swing a sign and trade deal of bonzi wells, francisco garcia and jason hart for marcus camby and earl boykins... or some other combo of players...

the kings get the shot blocking presence and rebounder in camby and a legitimate backup point guard in boykins.... denver gets their tough shooting guard, a young swingman to backup carmelo and bonzi, and a cheaper backup point guard... denver opens the center position for the 10mil/year Nene...

the kings can then try and trade KT to someone like maybe the nets, who are in desperate need of a power forward...

kings would be a championship contenders...

PF Camby / SAR /amunduson
SF Artest / Williamson / Monia
C Miller / Potopenko / Justin Williams
SG Martin / Douby
PG Bibby / Boykins / Price

Denver

PF K. Martin / Najera
SF C. Anthony / Garcia
C Nene / Elson
SG Wells / Patterson
PG Miller / Hart

this is a win-win situation for both teams

Nope. Not interested. You don't want to give someone like Bonzi to another team in the West. You REALLY don't. That trade would make no real sense from Denver's view, especially since it would force them into playing Nene out of position at the 5 AND leave them with a huge abyss where their backup point guard used to be.

They like Camby. They're not going to do that deal.

come on, bonzi is not KG or Shaq... he averaged 14pts and 7 rebounds, not 22pts/10rebs during the season... and it is not like you are trading him to the knicks and screwed him, he wants a bigger contract and you are helping him by trading him to a good team... there would not be a revenge factor in this type of trade...

all sides will get what they want... the kings a shot blocking defensive minded PF... bonzi gets a big contract... the nuggets get a premire shooting guard....

IMHO you have some basic conceptual problems with your scenario. Among them, Nene is NOT a center. Marcus Camby is NOT a power forward.

You totally misunderstand my point about trading Bonzi to the West. It's not about revenge. It's about trading a player who has ALWAYS done well against the Kings to a potential rival in the playoffs. Not a good idea, AFAIC.

We'll simply agree to disagree.

Oh, and as was mentioned above:

Farm Block said:
Camby is as soft as a roll of Charmin, he sprains an eyelash and is out for three weeks................
You do have to factor that in as well.

Oops. One more thing. Monia is gone.

Marcus Camby is a strong player, but he's also getting older and is colossally injury prone. I think you have to understand where the Kings are right now. They're not contenders. This is not the type of move that would make them contenders. So why trade Bonzi and Garcia for a player who is not going to put you over the top and is only getting older and more injury prone? Sure he's a good player. But unless the Kings can make a big splashy move that puts them over the top this offseason you might as well shoot for contention a year or two down the line. Until that big splashy move is made you need to make moves with the future in mind, not the present.

Precisely.

i'm sorry, i don't believe in giving away our young guy garcia for a old injury prone center. UNLESS we are right there for a championship, I see no needto trade the young and talented kids. camby probably only has 2-3 years left in him while garcia has at least 10. its too risky to gamble for maybe 2-3 years out of him. if he gets injured again, shorten that to 1 year. i'll have to pass-

When the Cambyman is healthy he is damn important to any team he is on. I doubt anyone really wants to take a flyer on Kenny Thomas for ANYONE...I think we'd have to work out a 'Keon Clark' type of thing if we really want to get rid of him. But, if we COULD pry Camby away, I'd be up for it, then we could move Brad to PF and go from there. I dont forsee that happening anytime soon, though...
