Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!
Wonderful.
I've been to a few of these city council meetings and D. Fong's town hall meeting last Saturday. A few comments.
I actually warmed to Kim Sloan last night. Yes she doesn't know what she's talking about a lot of the time and certainly she presents her argumants in very poor fashion and she is quite rude. That does not mean that wanting to help the homeless and poor is crazy or stupid. (Altho, they do have better advocates at council meetings.)
On the other hand, what you saw is representative democracy in action. Anyone can stand up and talk to their elected officials. They may indeed be crazy, ill-informed, incoherent, snobbish, "holier-than-thou," or under-educated. Some staunchly ignore fats or logic. I respect people who are willing to get up in public and voice their opinion as the constitution gives them the right to do. I have way more respect for the people who represent us and have to put up with all the crap----hours of it.
There were some who spoke for the arena, that did not come across that well, either, but we look at them in a more generous light. The guy with the crown and jersey, I seriously wanted to go up and drag him out of their about 10 seconds after he started. I was so embarrassed by him.
All I know is: 1) it has been a very interesting experience, so far; 2) there's still a lot that could derail this effort, but it's so close; 3) who knew copncil meetings were a source a cheap entertainment; 4) I never, ever want to run for office; 5) I'm so excited about the new arena and keeping the Kings, I could bust! 6) And last night was most definitely a huge victory for the arena backers and we believe it is a victory for Sacramento!
LONG LIVE THE
SACRAMENTO KINGS! LONG MAY OUR CITY PROSPER.
