Maloofs picking fight with Phil Jackson?

Good grief. The Maloofs grasping at straws and groveling is sad to witness. The reek of desperation is getting overwhelming.

Wow...it's not just Phil Jackson. I'm sure the OC Register is not necessarily happy with that as well. Send a lawyer to the home of a reporter? The Maloofs are a disaster right now

Who would have ever thought it possible that in a Jackson Vs. Maloofs fight every single Kings fan would be rooting for Jackson? It's just surreal.

Yea, its pretty clear to me that the only way the Maloofs can afford to keep an NBA team is if they move to Anaheim. If they stay in Sac they will sell, or have to sell, so they are doing WHATEVER they can to move the team. Seems like their only option, or they wouldnt be doing all this.

Right. They are torching that bridge in Sac. Can't really blame them. They literally cannot afford to own the Kings in Sac. The only reason they can "afford" Anaheim is because they can borrow money from Samueli(sp?).

They got themselves into a terrible position. It's a shame the Sac fans have to suffer with them.

You mean the only way they think they can keep the team.

And the Maloofs just made Phil's comments that much more damaging to them. It's like admitting he has a point and looking to use extreme methods to shut him up. Seems like they make a regular habit of bad decisions. Stern has got to be of the mind on how to get rid of these guys fast. He just doesn't need this bad for business side show going on during their primetime playoff games. And definitely not with the upcoming lockout. The Maloofs have backed themselves into a corner where they are likely to lose the team no matter what. Smart businessmen leave some safe exit strategies and these guys are burning bridges at an alarming rate.

If they are this angry / desperate ... I think its 50/50 they file. They "don't get bossed around" and it buys them more time to decide and make up their mind.

I mean, at this point, this there anybody in Sacramento that doesn't see the writing on the wall. So if they are forced back, I think it changes very little based upon what's already coming to the surface.

The only downside for them is that Stern has said that the typical relocation process has already started. Thus, its not like the Maloofs get 120 days after the file to pull it back. The league might be so pissed / fully briefed that they give the Maloofs 30 days to submit final documents, report and vote two week later.

And if they file and the league says no, I'd say its at least 50/50 they sell. If they file after the league tells them its probably not going to happen, it means they don't have any other play.

This is pretty spot on analasys of this whole situation. With all the rumors and statements coming from the relocation board, and the obvious opposition from the 2 other teams in the LA market...compounded with the debt that the family already has, I think they only have one last card to play before they fold: file for relocation. Once that happens, they are out of options...and if unsuccessful with that, it would then be time to sell the fort.

How would they going to pay the relocation fee though? Is Samueli going to loan them the money to pay a 150 million dollar relocation fee...assuming they somehow managed to get enough yes votes?

From what I heard they would sue the NBA or something to that effect based on the last 3 moves only being 30mil or something. The NBA has a reason though to set it high imo because the Maloofs are trying to move to a market with 2 solidified teams. We shall see though.

Part of me actually would like to see them try it just so i could see the NBA squash them like bugs.

No screaming owl patooty. If they keep this up, the NBA may be thrilled to "encourage" them to sell. They are behaving very badly. I know with the great positive emotion comes the great negatives but sending someone to the office is over the line. Not sure which line but it's over the line. My goodness guys.

This is the coach they tried to hire and dissed Adelman in the process.

Gotta be a joke, right? Lawyers don't even go to reporters' homes in "All the President's Men." What a colossal blunder.

Bad, bad move to irritate the local paper even before you move there. Clueless.
