MALOOF SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT EXTENDS
RADIO ALLIANCE WITH KHTK SPORTS 1140AM
AND INFINITY BROADCASTING THROUGH 2011

SACRAMENTO, CALIF. – Maloof Sports & Entertainment today announced an extension of its twelve–year alliance with KHTK and Infinity Broadcasting Corp. through 2011. The new agreement will keep all Kings and Monarchs games on KHTK Sports 1140 AM, the flagship radio station for both teams. It will also provide for expanded Kings and Monarchs programming opportunities on KHTK as well as additional promotional activation with the entire Infinity Sacramento station group, which includes KNCI 105.1 FM, KSFM 102.5 FM, KZZO 100.5 FM, KHWD 93.7 FM, and KYMX 96.1 FM

“We are thrilled to announce the continuation of our terrific relationship with Infinity Broadcasting Corp. and KHTK Sports 1140 AM,” said Joe Maloof, owner of the Sacramento Kings and Monarchs. “KHTK’S exceptional people and their service to fans throughout the Sacramento region are one of the most valuable cornerstones of our franchises.”

“Everyone at Infinity Broadcasting is excited that we are continuing our relationship with Maloof Sports & Entertainment,” said Steve Cottingim, senior vice president/market manager for Infinity Sacramento. “Both of our companies are passionate about providing an outstanding experience for the fans in concert with our commitment to Sacramento. Our relationship with John Thomas and everyone at Maloof Sports & Entertainment has grown stronger with this new long-term partnership. We are looking forward to working with John and his staff in the years ahead.”

“The leadership team at Infinity Broadcasting Corp. shares our vision of providing the best programming and promotion to the best fans in the world,” said John Thomas, president of Maloof Sports & Entertainment. “We thank Steve Cottingim, the new senior vice president and market manager, who reached this agreement with us in his first two months on the job, and Michael Hernandez, who has been a fantastic partner as station manager for KHTK. They have helped us develop new programming and promotional opportunities that will deliver the Kings and Monarchs to an even larger audience.”

KHTK Sports 1140 AM will tip off the 2005-06 Kings season beginning with the October 11 pre-season game versus the Dallas Mavericks and will feature the 7th annual Community Cup, which donates $100,000 from the proceeds of the game to a charitable capital improvement campaign. The regular season begins November 2 as the Kings travel to Houston to take on the Rockets.

hmm... am I totally naive & overly optimistic if I hope this means the Maloof are committed to keeping the team in Sacramento??:o

Unfortunately I am sure that any contract of this nature has an out clause based on the team continuing to play within the same geographic region. But hey, its better than them just going for a one year deal or whatever.

I am going to be optimistic right along with you!!!:D Nothing wrong with a little positive thinking!

^^Of all the sites around, I think the railyard is probably the LEAST plausible. But we'll all just wait and see, right?

I suppose this means people will continue to confuse Grant Napear as someone who actually knows a lot about everything happening.

Agreed. I think if the Natomas site doesn't work out, they will probably look to a place like West Sac (next to Raley Field, anyone?) or somewhere else. I doubt it will go downtown or in the railyard area.

Natomas just seems like the most practical spot for a new arena to me. Frankly, I don't care where they put the arena - I just hope they build one & keep the team in Sac!
