Malone fired

WAIT WTF.... IM IN UTTER SHOCK RIGHT NOW. WTF. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WTF HAPPENED. I criticized Malone a few nights ago, but I didn't want him fired!!! His coaching has been the best thing that's happened since we've drafted Cousins. Our defense has been good all season... WTF???

Viveck is seriously playing with fire.

There has been a steady steam of rumblings and some press that he's some degree combination of naive and/or eccentric as well as a meddling owner.

Before this year, a large chunk of the fan-base chose to just stop caring about this team after years of neglect and abuse. People were staring to come around, and he serve up a big dose of "Yup, same old Kings" to the casual fan and loop them into the "The new owner may be bonkers" conversation.

We did the blind loyalty thing since the mid-80s. The last guys burned that bridge for a long time. In fact, some of the die hards are burnt harder than most because they blindly followed them & KHTK to the bitter end. If Viveck keeps this up, this town will turn on him in a nasty way sooner than you think.

We are very grateful that he saved the team and the new shinny building. We'd rather he turn it around and stay ... but we're not dealing with another decade of incompetent ownership.

He declined revenue sharing to get the team. The cap is going up to around 90 million and the team has to spend at least 90% of that figure? He's got a tight lease and we just put up 2/3 of an arena. He keeps screwing this up and it will get rough fast in 2-3 years.

i'm honestly terrified of what could happen now.

we were in the playoff race in December for the first time in how long? With Cousins missing 9 games. Lots of players showing improvement. WHAT EXPECTATIONS DID WE NOT MEET?

the one coach that got Boogie on the right track and had an outstanding bond with Boogie, gone because of an 11-13 start in the loaded west.

PATHETIC

uhhh what the hell just happened!!!!!!!!!! They fired malone?! With a significantly improved record and our best player ailing? I'm speechless...

I agree with you. As a new season ticket holder who has been holding onto the fact that the franchise was seemingly headed in the right direction, this is really hard to swallow. I've already been having trouble unloading tickets for games I can't attend (I live in Chico) and now I'm really concerned about a deflated fan base.

SLAB

Hall of Famer
If Malone was fired for the pesky skill he taught called "defense", I think now is the perfect time to call up Reno Bighorns Head Coach and staff. He's been tearing it up with super exciting 150 point basketball nigh in and night out.

NBA 3.0.
The time is now!

Why? Because he won so much in Denver? Because his style fits our star? Because his personality is such a good fit?
If nothing else, Karl has an amazing track record. He's sitting on 21 consecutive seasons at or above .500 (and only one of those 21 was exactly .500). He hasn't been under .500 since the '80s. He's a career .599 coach. And some of those Denver teams were at .600+ with quite a bit of smoke and mirrors.

That said, he's in his mid-60s and has been in and out of poor health lately. So caveat emptor. But for all of his teams' defensive deficiencies, he wins games.

"The owner and GM traded for Rudy Gay and then fired me after I tried to win some games with Rudy as my best player because there were too many iso plays. Also, they were frustrated with the fact that I didn't let a team that shoots the three poorly chuck from three, even though 3s are worth more than 2s. Good luck buddy, you are going to need it."

Interesting:

Malone had disagreed with ownership's pursuit of a Josh Smith trade in July, and made his position known to Ranadive, league sources said. Ranadive joined D'Alessandro in talks with theDetroit Pistons, but no agreement was ever reached.

The article is worrying as can be. Den/GS part II is the plan.
Vivek is a moron.

This is very troubling indeed. Very troubling.

Josh smith will be here by next week now.

This was the right decision, although the timing is crazy. The organization want to win now, and this sends that message. Our record might be better than we all expected, but it should be better than it is. Once Cousins went out, it was clear that his coaching decisions were questionable at best, especially his rotations. He is responsible for a lot of the losses in which we could have won. Ultimately PDA noticed the same horrible coaching that was being displayed, and instead of dragging it out, they just pulled the trigger. It took nerve but like I said, it sends a message to the players. Mediocrity is not acceptable, and unfortunately Malone was the epitome of that. Now if we can only do something about Sessions and JT.....
Dude what the hell are you talking about. You explain to me how malone is responsible for the loses. If PDA got him 1 good player off the bench he would have a point. But then again you say we should get rid of JT which is asinine in it self.

And how does this send message? All the players are behind malone the message this sends to players is us in the FO are idiots.

wtf is this business about us playing faster as instructed by vivek. its clear pete is just his whipping boy and the future for us is whatever vivek says. ****ing hell, stupidity at its very best
