Hall of Famer
On January 15th 2003 Kings annihilated Mavs 123 - 94 to improve to 29 - 10 at that point of the season. The game was not as close as the score indicated. Kings won all 4 quarters. Webber ( Mavs killer) had another tripple double 29/15/11. Pedja had 23/4, DC had 18 and 6 assists, Bibby had 16/4/6. Keon had 13/5 and 3 blocks of the bench. Kings shot better than 55 % (13 - 20 from "downtown")

some examples of how good we were"

Although the Kings pushed the defending NBA champion Los Angeles
Lakers to the limit in last season's Western Conference finals,
they have been flying a bit under the radar this season. - (19 games over .500 at that time)

"This game doesn't say anything about where we are," Dallas
coach Don Nelson said. "We're having a great year. I think it
says more about who they are. We never said we were better than
Sacramento."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Back to the present where Kings are brutal at 14/21 and getting worse rapidly. Kings finished a road trip 1-2 only beacuse they played the Rockets. Still dead last in the Pacific and holding off Rockets and Blazers for the last in the West. With 47 to go - it is obvious that it will be a "long" season with an early finish. Kings are gettin "ready for a 3 game home stand including Magic, Suns and lakers. After that there will be a 6 game East coast trip that has a potential of turning beyond brutal. My recomendation for all of You at the west coast. Just stay couple hrs longer at work during those days.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
For all of You who think that we hit a rock bottom - here is a scenario to consider:

Kings continue to suck and finish say 30 - 52 (possible). 2 free agents go somwhere else (more money & better perspective). Kings can't attract any good free agents (happened before Vlade all the time). Noone still wants "Webber garbage" (they are not that flexible after all). So, new coach and much younger team with some high picks will need time to develop. Kings get into vicious circle caused by the snowballing effect. Mike and Brad are not in the age where they will want to rebuild for 3-4 years. They are not max players so they might not stick around. Couple years later - Kings = Hawks without arena = Las Vegas Kings.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I did not watch the last game so I can only comnent the box score. We sucked in any way possible and appearently we gave up a 19-4 run in the second quarter which was the ball game. R Butler won the TDM award. I am just curious how in the world did he get 3 blocks. Also the post game quotes were as usual. "we were not focused blah, blah, blah." "we did not have energy blah, blah, blah," They ere even incapable of making up anything new.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tonight, we play Magic which is the "easiest" opponent in this 3 game home stand. Yes, they can still beat us but they probably won't. Their record is as bad as ours. Steve Francis is suspended right on time. One less problem for Kings to deal with. Every game bears questions and this one is not any different. How badly will Howard dominate our front line ? How well will Mike bounce back ? Can Cisco do it again ? Will Keving stay in the corner ? Will Pedja play and if he does will it matter ? Will Magic figure out Brad Miller ? Will Hedo play some PG ?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - always bounces back unfortunately he is so inconsistant that he is bouncing back every second game. Will battle Nelson.
Brad - hope they let him shoot because I don't see him havindg a big rebounding game. I do see him being blocked several times.
Pedja - Has not scored 20 pts in ages. If he plays - can he do it ? What he can do it - is show Kevin and Cisco how to stand in the corner and do nothing. He is a real pro at that.
Bonzi & SAR - get well soon - come back whenever
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - has to work much harder to learn how to stand in the corner. If the opponents can't take You out of your game - your coac sure as hell can.
Cisco - consistency please
KT - one good game, one bad game. Now it is a "good game" turn
Corliss - we knew that 19 pts game in Houston was just based on theory of big numbers in which Corliss is bound to have a good game some times before end of his career.
Price - he got more time and he did not take advantage of it. He did not suck more than the others either.
Skinner - we have enough mummies - we need a pharaoh
Hart - why us, god - why us ?
Sampson - getting more playing time and he will play more as the garbage time happenes much earlier in the games.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
RA - no rabbits in the hat. No aces up the sleave. Nothing. I am not convinced that even he knows what he is still doing there.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Magic are bad when they are full strength. They are 4-12 on the road. Still they have plenty of TDM award candidates. Diener, Nelson, kasun, Stevenson - You name it. Hedo migh have a big game. Pat Garrity might pullAustin Chroshere if we let him which we probably will

Dwight Howard has monster career game.

33 pts, 21 rebs, 4 assts.

TDM = Diener: 17 pts, 5/8 3pt. FG's.

And most certainly, Hedo will get a rousing ovation when he's introduced. It might be the most cheering we'll hear from the Kings fans all night...

Oh God...

We really were that good. And now, we really aren't that good any more...

Piksi, I'm going to really try to stop reading your flash-backs. Man it's so sad to think about.

by flash backs - do You mean the one from the past or the one from the last game ?;)

Wow, reading that quote from Nellie really makes me sad. Makes me appreciate the days when the kings were dangerous and respected in the league. Those were the days

The Kings wouldn't have been a good bet to win too many games with three starters out even during the best years. I'd say it's a small miracle whenever they win a game until Bonzi and Shareef come back. Not that Bonzi and Shareef are exactly an imposing cavalry....

As was the case when I was at the Indiana game and Pollard was introduced.

I think King win tonight, but then continue downward spiral with the 2 remaining home games and the east coast trip.

Hang on fans, it's gonna be a very tough stretch.

I think we are going to win tonight, but that win won't resolve our big problems.GP still have time to do something, but I think he should make some trade before 23rd February, because we need changes right now-we don't have much time!

Piksi,I fall in with your signature. For me,It's like beat Partizan now;) :D
Our guys should motivate themselves to crash Lakers and give some hope to us...

well, we own Partizan so bad - it is not interesting anymore

and yes, it is the same. For me - only way to "salvage" the season is to beat LA

well, since jameer is a pg and since bibby is going to "defend" him, i bet he is gonna have a great offensive night. but the thing is if jameer does indeed have a great scoring night, the kings will win.

You forgot the 6 blocks.....

Umm...

Diener is a 6-1 unathletic, scrawny, white-boy.

...I think it'll be more in the range of 4 blocks!

:D

Let's just drop this discussion, please. I have reported the post. You can too.

Sorry for the problem guys...I didn't mean anything by it...Just using a steriotype to help my point.

Anyways, I edited it out...Let's get this thread back on track!

GO KINGS!

Oh don't be doing that.

Diener IS a 6-1 unathletic, scrawny, white-boy.

And I am fundamentally uninterested in the protests of PC people who take the term too seriously. Its been a humorous loaded term in sports forever. Athletes laugh at themselves for being too "white".

While Amory opts for negativity, I will again opt for positivity and a "go get 'em" for our boys tonight.

I will also be going to the phoenix game on tuesday and will be screaming for us to sink them.
