I was at the game and I'm not sure we were watching the same one. Howard abused everyone who crossed his path. JT, Hawes, Brockman. Only one who stopped him was Donte and that was one play in the entire game and required a double team.
I hardly saw anybody try to front Howard. What I saw was his man allowing him great position, and then one or two help defenders immediately came and most of the time, fouled him.

Seriously, Howard's whole post repertoire was on display today. He went to his right, to his left, an off glass sky hook, finishing things that our bigs are incompetent at doing.

There is no way to sugarcoat it. All of our bigs got murdered.
And most of his trips to the line were from the help defenders. Again, I didn't like their scheme against Dwight that game. Other teams have proven how to limit him. They did a bad job.

I've just finished reading all these posts.... watched game last night on TV. Our guys had a really bum 4th quarter... obviously, and the blame was shared by all. No one that I've read here has said they shared my disappointment in Greene's return game. Took too many shots, took too may bad shots, and generally was a negative. I would certainly rate Nocioni and Casspi as playing much better than Greene. JT, as usual, was right in there with Greene. With those negatives its hard to build a lead let alone get one in the first place.

One good thing about Kings play, starting players, and rotations..... it makes Kevin's return a possible breath of fresh air. Let's hope so. Bring on Garcia!!!!

Boy that was a rough loss. Imagine what the game would have looked like had VC played? I don't think the Kings young players are learning from games like this.
I'm not sure but they're playing a center that is at another level from all other center. Could be something that they never anticipated but have learned after playing.

First time experienced, it doesn't always end up as you wanted to be.

Greene became a chucker in the 4th when we were trying to make a comeback. I thought he was better than Nocioni (of course, Sean May played better than Nocioni last night as always). His speed isn't all there right now, you could tell that he was pretty tentative making his moves sometimes.
His defensive presence in the first quarter was a much needed breath of fresh air.

I thought Greene became a chucker through out his earlier play, as I say, there were all bad in the 4th.

Through the end of the third quarter he had taken five shots. All of those shots were makable ones as well. In the fourth he was left relatively open on the perimeter and for whatever reason could not get those shots to fall.

Below I show player minutes divided by shots taken giving a figure representing frequency of shots, e.g., a shot every _____ minutes.
I would not choose Greene to be the most frequent shooter. This frequency does not tell of the quality of the shot. Too many of Greene's shots are forced, meaning too quick, out of control. To start with let's have him shoot about half as much and charge one pizza for every low quality shot and hope we starve to death.

CASSPI 40 13 3.08
GREENE 20 12 1.67
THOMPSON 19 8 2.38
UDOKA 23 4 5.75
EVANS 38 16 2.38
UDRIH 33 11 3.00
HAWES 28 11 2.55
NOCIONI 19 8 2.38
RODRIGUE 6 1 6.00
BROCKMAN 13 2 6.50

No one said anything about Donte shooting the most out of anyone. ReKe should be getting the lion's share of the shots in our offense.

The shot hierarchy that we'll probably see now is
'Reke->Martin->Beno->Casspi->JT->Donte->Hawes->Udoka->Brockman------------------>Sergio------>Guy in the stands------->Unborn child of 'Reke------>Sean May

Or course, Noce will most likely do his best to attain the top of that list by chucking the ball towards the hoop.

That's the reason for my original post. He did shoot and I did say.

I agree with your "shooters" priority list. Let's hope for the best.

They did to a bad job, but because they are bad defenders, not because the scheme was bad. They tried everything on him. Yes they did front him a few times. Howard went backdoor on an alley oop, and was in position to get an offensive rebound on another.

We have to start realizing that our big men are simply not making the cut, for whatever reasons.
