[Game] Magic @ Kings - 12/7/12

i guess you're just watching and not analyzing then.
Whatever. The Kings have a problem finding the open player, they also have a hard time moving without the ball or running any sort of offense on a regular basis. This isn't a Jimmer specific problem. The fact that you think that Jimmer has been frozen out by his team mates shows that your aren't watching the whole game, just Jimmer.

BTW even if they are missing Jimmer for wide open 3's I am sure that the people on this forum are tired of Jimmer fans talking about it so much when the rest of the team has so many other problems.

I just saw something that gave me a very good feeling about Cousins. He did the obligatory manhugs, etc. with the other team. Then, as he was leaving the floor, he made sure to go over and acknowledge the officials in a positive way.

Good game by Jimmer and T-Rob, and a nice start to the weekend.

I LOVE THIS TEAM!

h ell nahhhhh are you not watching the game. it's pretty sad. he's open pretty frequently. best shooter on the team.
Here's the deal. The name of the forum is KINGSFANS. You can either tone it down and quit being a jerk or you can find elsewhere to post. It really is that simple. Got it?

I'm not tired of it. IT may look like a star but you know that rarely will he look to get an assist. Jimmer, which may shock people that have never watched him except with the Kings, DOES look for the assist. And when hot, he'll go toe to toe with anyone. The day will come when he will not be ignored when open at the three point line. To new people to the forum, most people don't think he has earned much yet although he's getting there.

Nothing is sad about this team winning.

Isaiah Thomas was excellent. Totally changed the pace of the game.
Cousins was excellent. Played within himself for the second game in a row.
Robinson was very good. He can really be a defensive disruptor, and we saw some of that tonight.

The 3rd quarter was crap, but they maintained their poise, fought and won. Couldn't ask more from this team now.

That's what I want to hear! Now he just needs to give them the box of See's for the Christmas season.:D

Kinda liked Walton in place of Reynolds tonight, he's kind of a funny dude.

How was Jerry on the radio?
JR is excellent on the radio paired with the G-Man - I listened bit tonight but have heard them together few times before. Fat Lever is also good with G-Man as well. Jerry has that corny jokester style but with a lot of good basketball insights.

Can't believe we won with Salmons, Thornton and Robinson combining to go 2 for 20 from the field. That's basically two baskets in 1/4 of our shots on the night. Thank god Thomas and Jimmer were super efficient while the big men cleaned up on the boards and gave us second chances.

honestly id love to see Walton as the coach of this team. the guy might be crazy, but when he does talk about basketball, he makes too much sense. Example: when he said the Kings should be pressuring the magic with Nelson off the floor because they have no real ball handler. things like that show you he could make a good coach. he also preaches hustle and ball movement.

also he didnt like Cousins sitting on the bench for so long

He also said that Robinson was cruising down the floor in transition on offense and defense, which I totally agree with. Robinson can beat 95% of the guys in the NBA down the floor if he puts his mind to it. But I think that he's really thinking a lot out there now, and he's doesn't realize he's cruising sometimes.

I don't know if I'd want him to coach, but I'd definitely like him out there at practice bitching at the players.

It could be a threat from Smart. You guys better shape up or I'm getting Walton out here :)

he'd also drive his players up a ****ing wall with his infamous motormouth. considering that the kings were without tyreke evans tonight, my only major criticism is in seating bill walton next to grant napier without jerry reynolds there to help temper walton's incessant blathering. the dude is so just goddamn overbearing as a color commentator, you could practically hear the palpable frustration welling up in grant's voice by the end of the game, despite the kings pulling out a quality win...

i think he could get a team playing tough. idk anything about what kind of offense or Defense he would implement. but im pretty sure he could manage a rotation, and i think he would have his team playing their asses off of they would be riding the pine

Napear sounded bothered by the presence of an honest person next to him.

look, i don't give two ****s about napear's contentious radio personality. NPR is all i ever busy myself with over the waves, anyway. but grant's an effective play-by-play man as far as television is concerned, and while i think he jocks the wrong kings half the time, he also manages to call the game better than at least half the league's local broadcasters. now, bill walton's got knowledge and he's got spirit, as well as an honest-to-goodness love for the game. but that does not save him from being an absolutely TURRIBLE color commentator. he leaves exactly ZERO empty space on air, talking over every single moment of a game. it'd be one thing if he consistently offered insight and analysis, but it really is just a constant stream of overexcitable babble. the guy is so far beyond distracting that it makes me long for jerry reynold's goofball down home-isms...

I liked that too but I was laughing because if you watch it again he accidentally got one of the officials head in his armpit while reaching for a pound haha

As much as we rag on Walton, I would love for him to work with Cousins on his game. Other than Hakeem, Walton might have been the most skilled big in NBA history
The thing is Hakeem technique relied heavily on being as quick and agile as he was. Walton is much closer to Cousins in terms of physical tools and would make a decent role model on the floor.
IT made a case to send Brooks to the 3rd spot...
When Tyreke is out, IT's skillset and mentality is a much better fit.

I agree with this, it seemed that he internally said "screw it" and just went balls out in the second half playing with extreme energy, and despite not making a single fg, had his best game as a pro. Hopefully that makes it click inside him that thats how he has to play all the time.

TRob in college was known for having a never ending motor. The games I saw didn't impress me so I must have caught him on bad days. It seems like if you tell him to raise havoc on defense he would be a great benefit to this team. I didn't know he could move so dang fast and there was one play where he probably scared the crap out of the guy he was defending like "where did he come from?" I suspect we are seeing what he does best and as much as I would like to see an expanded game, he is fun to watch as he was in the fourth quarter. That kind of play can be infectious.

I was hoping JJ could be like this also but I think JJ is deluded into thinking he can be an offensive force.

As to Walton: I sure wouldn't want him as a head coach but I'd like him to coach our bigs. Unfortunately there is not enough money in that I'm sure. He is no dummy and as much as he exaggerates, I was impressed with him tonight far more than being distracted which is the norm.

This was a very important win as a loss would have created a lot of doubt, I suspect. Winning without Reke has to be a confidence builder.

It's incredibly difficult for a big to establish himself only getting 15 minutes a night on a team like the Kings. Rookies who get 30+ minutes a game are able to work out the kinks and stupid mistakes and gain that valuable experience. The problem is JT is playing so well right now that it makes zero sense to lower his minutes for the sake of Robinson

He may get some of Hayes' minutes unless Smart forgets this game.

You know, I like Jimmer and root for him to succeed. He's on the team I love after all. But Jimmer maniacs can drive me to distraction. Yes, he shot well, but IT shot 50% which is hardly bad. Also, IT had 4 assists to only 1 turnover. Jimmer, on the other had 4 TOs to 1 assist.

I was at the game and was disappointed when I realized that Evans was not out there. I figured it had to be that darn knee.

TRobb can be fun to watch. He was really up there for one rebound, altho he was called for a loose ball foul. Still you're just sitting there amazed at how high he jumped. :)

Last two games Cuz has been much calmer with the refs. Makes a difference. I hope he realizes the difference. Did a great job out there tonight.

Oh, there was a very good sized crowd at the arena tonight. That was nice to be part of again like Wednesday night was. It was nice to see three Pearl Harbor survivors being honored tonight. They received a very rousing standing ovation. :)

It was also nice to see about 12 MSE employees honored at halftime for working 25 years with the organization.

LOL I am not a Jimmer fan actually. He's a great shooter but that's about it. I do not focus on Jimmer but when it's obvious that he's out open for a good 10 seconds when Isaiah or Thornton gets stuck in traffic and they still don't pass it out to him when he's the only open one. And it's not just Jimmer, King's do have a problem finding an open player, and for TODAY's game, the most frequently open player was Jimmer.

I found unintentional hilarity in Waltons comments.

"A veteran touched me"

"I wanna see a 12 inch"

I mean.... anyway. Good win.

Great effort from T-rob.

That may be the G-Man's doing more than anything else.
