In any case, seeing as Flores barely touched the floor last year (77 total minutes in 16 games), there is not much to go on. So in the absence of other evidence, I hereby present to you my ultra-scientific per 48 min analysis of Luis Flores so that we can witness Geoff's true genius:
-- Per 48 Luis averaged a nifty 21.8pts on .483 shooting, 50% three point shooting, and 100% free throw shooting! He also chipped in with a nice 6.9 ast/48, although the rebounding left something to be desired at only 1.9/per 48. And unfortunately he also countered those numbers with his 6.9 TO/48 and 5.8 fl/48, but you can't have everything.
-- and the best part is that he got stronger as the year went on! Post All-Star break Luis poured it on with a staggering 36.0pts/48 and starting ripping down boards at 12.0 rebs/per48. Of course the scoring explosion did mean that he quit passing so much and unfortunately he had 0.0 ast/48 after the break. However, I have a suspicion that may have had something to do with him actually only playing in 1 game for 4 minutes post All-Star, so perhaps it can be excused. The other numbers he put up in those 4 minutes are exciting though!
-- DEFENSE: we will also have to watch for Luis's defensive intensity -- in December, he averaged a very respectable 2.67 stl/48. Unfortunately, those were the last steals he recorded on the season, and he was at 0.0 for the remaining 2/3 of his games.
-- PASSING: it also looks like Luis has the makings of a true pure PG if he wants to be -- after all in January he decided to experiment with being pass first and recorded an amazing 13.2 ast/per 48! Of course, on the other hand he coupled that with an equally amazing 9.6 TO/per 48, so maybe he can be our new Mateen. His followup work in February when he dropped down to 4.0 ast/per 48 but soared to 12.0 TO/per 48 was unacceptable however.
-- BY TEAM: Luis showed his Hall of Fame potential last year in completely crushing the Denver Nuggets. He can be our designated Nuggets killer, having averaged a remarkable 54.9 pts/per 48 against them last year, while also finding time to dish out 6.9 ast/per 48 (and his customary 6.9 TO/per 48 just to keep it balanced). The Nuggets were so impressed they picked him up when the Warriors mysteriously released this unsung All-Star. On the other hand I'm not sure he is quite ready to take on the elite teams, as he managed to average 0-12 FGs per 48 against the Suns, along with a disastrous 24.0 TO/per 48. He almost matched that against the Spurs, going 0-16 FG per 48 against them, but partially redeemed himself there with a 16.0 reb/48 average. Finally however, the best news for us is that against the Lakers Luis morphs into Magic Johnson reincarnated, not only pouring in 24.0 pts/per 48, but also dishing out an amazing 24.0 ast/per 48. But the biggest difficulty against L.A. appears to be just keeping him on the court, as he also managed to average 24.0 fls/per 48 against the Lakeshow (doubtless a sign of incredible defensive intensity however).
